I agree, I will end up watching this as well since it is automotive related and looks entertaining.

I didn't even know there was an American series. Are you even ALLOWED to pan a car in a review over here without the US manufacturers getting all pissy poo poo?

I'm personally sick of Clarkson's bias against Nissans so I'm looking forward to a different set of hosts.

The UK series isn't going anywhere anytime soon so we will have two different shows to watch.

The US version was announced earlier in the year, here is the trailer:

These guys have the presenting skills of 3 drunk teens on youtube, and they dress like they're homeless.

He still has a opinion like anybody else, some people don't like the exhaust note.

but I always found it hilarious how their website says the Z has the best V6 sound out there

Clarkson, Hammond & Cap'n Slow are kind of the stereotypical Brit's to me, so I guess it would make sense to have stereotypical American's for the US version.

I don't like that trio of slackarses. They just don't put off an air of knowledge or sophistication like the Brits do. And I think it's entirely possible for an American to come off sophisticated and intelligent. I just don't think they're trying.

Vegitto-kun 09-08-2010 04:39 PM

If they were supposed to be stereotypical there would be a dirty redneck, a HUEG blob and a gunnut lunatic

In another video, the one guy dresses in sweatpants and a tee, so that shouts "dirty redneck".

The dude with glasses is pretty blobular.

And the jury's still out on the skinny guy as to whether he's card-carrying NRA. But you never know.

:bowrofl:

Vegitto-kun 09-08-2010 04:43 PM

the funny thing is we know the boss of a big TV broadcasting group here in belgium and I made them think of making a belgian version of topgear.

They genuinely are interested in making a carshow based on topgear probably not going to be called top gear.

The guy told me that if they ever do it I will be the first to be offered a job as a presentator.

lets see I am tall and pretty fat

I can be a jeremy clone

:iagree: Their presentation bores me.

Cmike2780 09-09-2010 11:07 AM

They should have had at least one British guy/girl as a host. It needs that British "accent" tone when they do the car test cut scenes.

We shouldn't pass judgement on a show thats not even out yet, but so far, it needs work. We shall see.

nuTinmuch 09-10-2010 01:16 AM

I posted my feelings about the show here: Top Gear USA: Why I have no hope.

I think it sums everything up pretty well.

HKYStormFront 09-10-2010 02:13 AM

work block FTL, subscribed...

HKYStormFront 09-10-2010 10:54 AM

seemed like a decent segment but i still don't feel that magic that clarkson/hammond/may have on screen together. maybe it's just not really shown there, hopefully it will be a good series but i'm not holding my breath

Waiz 09-10-2010 04:23 PM

I'm so easy I will watch anything automotive related so I'm looking forward to this.

It's definitely not the UK version, but it's at least something to watch.

ThoriumHotdog 09-26-2010 08:42 PM

This show has no chance of matching the original.

Think of this way. Top Gear UK runs WITHOUT commercials on BBC. They can give honest opinions on the cars without having to worry about some advertiser freaking out and pulling their ad money.

Top Gear USA is going to run on the History Channel win TONS of commercials. Do you think Ford will be happy if the US presenters rip the Mustang a new ***? How about Hyundai, Honda, Nissan, etc. Car manufacturers are going to want to run their ads on a show like this so don't expect accurate or even truthful reviews of the vehicles.

Its going to be like watching an hour long infomercial. :( :(

Waiz 09-26-2010 09:14 PM

Top Gear in the UK may run without commercials but BBC America that runs the show on US airwaves has a ton of commercials.

Good luck finding a US show that will run nowadays without commercials or editorial input.

Thats sort of the point. The show is going to be watered down to the point of idiocy. I can't wait to see them praise the new Ford Fiesta or Chevy Aveo.

To be honest, they should have borrowed the format and called the show something else.

Waiz 09-26-2010 11:41 PM

Meh, it's definitely not the same show.

The new Fiesta is dope though, that is for certain!!
