the only issue I see with that would be that it would scavenge the sales of the Boss. Supposedly they built this engine initially for direct injection, which one would assume, would be the next stage in the build, hopefully they wait until a newer model refresh a few years down the road. Ford is planning on scrapping the 5.4 and using the 5.0 in their new trucks and GT500 cars as well, just found that out today. Imagine, a GT500 with 550+ hp and 26mpg, insanity.

thats probably the only thing I dont miss about my Z, having that back seat was actually one of the things that swayed me towards the mustang, I'm in the military so I usually have to carry a shitload of equipment, I kinda needed it, but that Boss back seat delete is sick.

Be prepared to be mad then, this is the coyote engine in the 2011 Mustang, all setup for DI already.

Yeah I heard about fact that Ford future proofed the 5.0 so it does not fall back like it did with the 4.6.

The 5.0 will get DI somewhere down the line, but it probably won't be for 2012. My guess is somewhere around the 2013-2015 refresh.

methinks this may be the case. I'll also assume they'll have a plug and play DI kit for aftermarket purchase as well. Woot for that.

I think that ford will work the DI into it's hire volume cars before Ford works DI into the stang.

Like Honda and VTEC, I would think Ford would work out the issues in a more limited run vehicle and the move it mass market.

Ford is already working issues out in limited use with the ecoboost enigines. But before it goes into the mustang V8 5.0 that we've been talking about. Ford will put the DI into a higher volume car. It will increase fleet MPG and defer the cost of tech and retooling in a car that will see a return on the investment faster.

+1 here. I'm in the military as well and when you go away for training like IOBC or any other schools you probably will be carrying at least 2 duffel bags if not more of gear. That simply can't fit in a 350Z or a 370Z. Knowing that the 5.0's performance in every single category is better than the 370Z and less expensive makes the 5.0 a no-brainer. There's really nothing besides "feel" that the 370z "may" do better than the 5.0 while at the same time being more expensive when similarly optioned out.

Not every single category, the Z is still the better handling car of the two (though only by a small margin, and the Brembo Mustang beats the pants off the Akebonos) and one could argue that the Z is the better looking of the two (I like them both for different reasons).

But yes, a back seat is great. I like the ability to carry more than one person.
