3.73s seem just right. There is plenty of first. Of course I haven't really been all out with it yet so I'm sure I could spin my way through most of 1st and 2nd. :icon17:

Lou bought me breakfast. :icon17::roflpuke2:

yea the drop from 5th at 2900/3000 rpms to 6th gear always seems to a little to much, when getting off the clutch, but thats how u get that nice gas mileage with a 5.0 v8.

I almost died today. I was in the left hand lane and some douche in a F350 kept speeding up so I couldnt get over to the right turn lane, I downshifted from 4th to 2nd and gassed it to speed up and get over, the tires spun so hard and I nearly got sideways, the torque in this car will make you shit your pants. :yum:

I'm gonna stay away from the supercharger for a bit, i dont know how i'd handle 600+ hp and 550+ ft/lbs:eek:

Left STL yesterday around 1PM EST, stayed overnight in Huntington, WV and then got home today around noon. Gonna have a thread up with the trip stuff in the next day or two. :driving:

i don't understand this trade. the z has the better handling, more advanced suspension, better interior, and the more exclusive more exotic look to it, compared to the dime a dozen mustang. the z is more reliable than the mustang. the z also holds its value better than the mustang in terms of depreciation. the mustang has the more powerful engine and straight line acceleration, but how much money did you lose on the trade in and the price of the new car? you could have bought a supercharger for the z which would make the z match or exceed the straight line acceleration of the mustang, which i believe is the only reason why anyone would trade a z for a mustang.

You are set in your ways, so I will just leave you to wonder. No point in trying to explain my reasoning to you. All that matters is I'm happy.

I got what I wanted out of the Z and now I'm enjoying this one. So let's just all be happy because we're all happy, right? :hello:

Now that you picked it up don't forget to go back to the dealership and get the Sammy TSB applied

wow, what an amazing technical innovation!

oh darn, someone beat Ford to it!

Ah, but it works! Seriously, if you don't like it, fine. But if all you can do is bitch about it, :gtfo2:, there's no point.

I made a choice about the car I drive. I'm sorry that somehow my vehicular decisions have a magical way of bunching your panties and causing you discomfort. :icon18:

Kirkster 09-07-2010 08:05 PM

Have a friend developing a brand new 5.0 mustang for the last 3 months and Ford created a new ecu map based on problems with the stock map that he pointed out.

So they were going to just flash his car but then it would have been illegal for the SCCA pro solo and Solo Finally for this year. So a new TSB has been created and all mustangs can benefit from Sammy's work...

His was the third car flashed (you can guess who owns the other two), and it seems to have fixed all the problems. He is currently kicking the crap out of the Shelby Mustangs at the SCCA solo finally events.

He took Pro Solo by almost a second (which is a lot in auto x) and we shall see if he has obsoleted the Shelby Mustangs by Friday...

That's awesome! I will have to look into it, though down the road I am going to get the Steeda CAI and SCT Tune so it's probably a moot point. But that's awesome that Ford did that for him.

I wish Nissan gave us that kind of support.

Kirkster 09-07-2010 08:10 PM

well Sammy is very well known in the SCCA corner and basically has flogged everyone with the Shelby since 2007 (with the camero before that).

So when he told ford there was a problem they listened and sent out an engineer...

:bowrofl:

m4a1mustang 09-07-2010 08:15 PM

That's still pretty cool.

I can't get over the sport mode in this car. It lets me kick the tail out quite a bit and if I start to spin the tires too much it won't cut all power... it just backs it off slightly so I can keep going (even with a little spin still). Kind of wild!

what I appreciate about ford, is that they almost encourage modifications, you can order the car with packages already pre installed, I'm sure they'll be offering the FRPP/Whipple supercharger kits in the near future as a dealer installed option. BTW, 8 psi takes the 5.0 beyond 600hp and 550 ft/lbs....:yum:

Lemers 09-07-2010 08:18 PM

Why don't you update your "drives" area under your David Bowie Goblin King avi.

you can do whatever you want as long as you're happy. it doesn't affect me either way. but you still haven't answered my question, how much money did you lose in the trade? if it was a good chunk of money, why not go with supercharging the z?

Red370 09-07-2010 08:19 PM

btw, I got off on a two way off ramp today next to a Roush 427... needless to say, he hates the 5.0 now.

I'm a little bit sentimental. I'll do it in a few days.

There's one thing I REALLY miss about the Z... the storage cubby! That's the coolest thing ever and definitely one of those things you don't miss until it's gone. I have to come up with a whole new system for storing toll money and other randoms.

Supercharging the Z wouldn't have achieved what I wanted.

If you really want to know, I can run numbers tomorrow and tell you. I did lose some money, yes, but you always lose money on a car. These aren't investments. This is money I could have "lost" in one weekend in Vegas anyways. If I was concerned about it, I wouldn't have done it.

true, ford is unusual in how it supports mods and tracking their cars. most other manufacturers would throw a fit if you use their cars other than for getting groceries. :tiphat: to them. still won't buy a mustang though. :p

ooh, just did some research on the Roush, now I know why they hate 5.0's, it makes me LOLz.

i believe the stillen supercharger gives 515 hp and 343 torque. don't have any numbers, but that seems more than enough for the z to match if not exceed the mustang.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO GIVES A F*CK!!
The man already made his decision and is happy. Im pretty sure he and the majority of the members know what he can do with a SC or TT! He obviously didnt want to take that route. So just congratulate the guy and stop coming up with things that wont make a difference!

And so do I but telling him is senseless. i agree with you about keeping the Z especially since i live in TX and Mustangs are at every street corner but we got different tastes. i do want to atleast try drive one though

i'll see if the local ford stealership will let me test drive one, just to see what all the hype is about.
