Ya, so 1/4, 0-60 shouldn't be TOOOO much. Braking would be a big difference I am sure, it has the Z06 brakes

No power, but better suspension and brakes. I want to see them both go around a turny track. Screw the stats, give me lap times.

Edit: In fact, the comparo would have been more apt, since a base 1LT Corvette costs almost the exact same amount in MSRP as a Shelby GT500 Mustang.

I now call shenanigans! Part of what they gave the Stang over the Vette was its affordability! Why not see how it stacks up with the base coupe?!

Not hatin', bro. I just would like to see the Shelbystang against the base vette. Sh*t, the GS Vette put up poorer skidpad numbers with an upgraded suspension!

So the GT500 does the 1/4 mile in 12.6 but the regular GT mustang does it in 12.7-12.8. Not sure I see the quantification for the price increase even if the GT500 handles better than the regular GT mustang. I think I would prefer the 30k GT and then add a couple grand into suspension and power mods.

the GT500's biggest issue is grip, it makes a shit ton of power/torque, throw some slicks on it and it instantly turns into a mid/high 11's car. But I agree, you can get a base 5.0 like mine for 27.5k, Whipple has a 2.3L twin screw kit that makes 624hp at 9psi safely for 7k, so for roughly 34k, you can have one of the baddest cars on the street. Suspension of course is a different story but if you're going for straight line, you cant really beat it.

the tenths might be close at times on the track, but the trap speed is def noticeable.

and the z28 would be a competitor to the gt500, not the mustang gt. so its gonna be an expensive vehicle. probably close to 50k and over.

I hear the new mustangs attract nails to their tires. Did you want to weigh in on your experience?

Just kidding, man. It was nice seeing your ride in person. She's mean, bro!

Thanks dude... next time I will provide shuttle services to Starbucks... we'll get there faster (and can get more starbucks) ;)

As far as the nail goes, turns out it was squished sideways into the tread, it didn't actually go in and puncture the tire.

dude i've been reading about this, do those P Zeros have some kind of tread that makes them particularly susceptible to nails/bolts n shit? i've read like 10 people on the stang forums bitching about it.

They are just sticky as ****. My guess is if you run over a nail you have a good chance of picking it up (like I did) and giving it more of a chance to dig into the tire whereas the less sticky A/S tires probably reduce that effect (if the nail doesn't puncture the tire right away it probably has a better shot of kicking the nail away vs. a sticky tire).

Plus we're running a 255 vs. the 235 or 245s on some of the other cars, so we're increasing our chances of picking up a nail just because we've got a slightly larger contact patch.

Mainly I think it's just the construction in my area. I never had an issue with nails with my first three cars, then I had a puncture in the Z and an almost-puncture with the 5.0. I punctured the Z's left rear tire maybe 2 months ago or so.
