Really? It's been all over the place. It seems to be universal, and Ford acknowledged it is a problem -- but I don't think they've come out with a solution yet.

LOL OMG out of nowhere MUSTANG.

seriously the past few week I have seen like 3-4 5.0s in red and yellow.

what the **** is going on.

m4a1mustang 07-05-2011 06:25 AM

They must finally be showing up. On the Mustang forums there are a handful of people now that have taken delivery of their 5.0s in Europe.

Vegitto-kun 07-05-2011 07:26 AM

do you mean the small grind issue some people are having? 1-2 5-6...i had this and they updated the ecu and disabled skip shift and now its the smoothest gearbox i have ever owned! There has been a few transmission issues also, but ford has been replacing all these so its not a big deal.

nuTinmuch 07-05-2011 12:58 PM

I mean, I don't want to rag on you guys (because I was/am interested in the 5.0), but I can't visit a Mustang forum or general car site without seeing someone mention a problem with the transmission. It even made the car blog rounds a few months ago. Hell, when I went to test drive the car, I brought up the transmission thing and the salesman even admitted it to me, trying to calm my worries by saying that everything would be covered under warranty anyway.

I also just read a TSB that Ford put out to deny warranties if people are using a tune, which is sort of scary considering how much bragging there was about getting power out of the 5.0.

It seems sort of like the ringland issue they have/had with the 08+ STi's. Some people deny they even exist, and never have a problem with tons of miles on their car, and others don't make it past 1 or 2k miles without their engine popping.

m4a1mustang 07-05-2011 01:02 PM

It's the same thing any other manufacturer does, honestly. If you go to the dealership with an engine problem and a custom tune on your 370 you can bet your *** the dealer is most likely going to deny your claim. Considering Ford warranties their own 525 whp supercharger kit, it's not all that scary -- they just don't want to be covering claims that might be due to Joe Nobody's custom tune.

The problem with the Mustang forums is a lot of the drivers are nubs. The majority of transmission complaints are coming from people who drove a Lexus beforehand and decided to drive a 5.0 because of the press. They don't understand that a direct input style transmission isn't going to be as smooth as a Lexus automatic or the cable-input transmission in (insert econobox here).

There is a vocal minority that bitches about a nonexistent problem. The few transmissions that have actually been defective (just like the '09 370s with the bum synchros) have been replaced. Everything else is just unwarranted complaining.

It has only been out for a year. There's always bumps in the road with new models. I agree, most of the issues will be ironed out within a year, or some of the complaints are being raised by silly persons who expected it to ride on a cloud and shift smoothly like some luxobox.

It's a $35k sports car, not a $60k lux bawks.

I should be taking delivery of mine in a month, gonna suck having to take the bus/train all over Germany.

Quite a few members over on the mustang forums are in the military, and it seems more and more are starting to trickle over to Europe, seems the 5.0 is a smash hit with the military crowd. I remember when I was the first one on the installation to have one, and alas, the day has arrived that I've dreaded for the past year.

There she is after a 6hour detail and 3 coats of zaino!

Performance wise I am extremely please, The mustang is stupid in a straight line and the cornering/braking performance isn't really that bad to the Z. Just getting use to how much bigger the car is. Overall though I am VERY pleased with the trade and have huge plans in store.

Congrats dude! Your Z looked great, so does the new 5.0. Yellow Blaze is a pretty sick color in direct sunlight.

I guess I will find out after the Test drive, Brembo's are 14 upfront and 12 in the rear. Brembo Brakes are only in the front btw
Standard brakes are 12.8 upfront and 11.8 in the rear. Correct me if this isnt accurate.
