That said, the Z is an awesome car and a great platform in and of itself. As diehard a Ford guy as I am, I find it very hard to part with this car. The fact of the matter is I want both... and since that's not financially feasible or practical in any way (I'm buying a Pathfinder as Car #2 later this year) I think the best option is to keep the Z. Financially it doesn't make any sense to get out of this car and into the Mustang. I'd essentially be starting all over again with payments on the Z. Nothing I can't handle, it's just as a finance and accounting guy it screams "bad idea" to me. So alas, the Z stays, and the Z will be supercharged eventually. I will continue to admire the new Mustang and I'll test drive them once a month like I have been doing ( ![]() ![]()

Love the 5.0 Mustang. It's a fire breathing beast.
I love the Z for similar reasons, and it's my beast. This is a pretty great time to be alive if you're a car enthusiast. The only thing that sucks is how fat/bloated some of the muscle cars are. But every segment right now has performance models. |

Compare it to cars in it's class and it's a true lightweight. The Camaro comes in around 3800lbs and the Challenger tips the scales at over 4000. To put things into perspective, a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano weighs about 3800 lbs!

My problem with larger vehicles is the idea that moar wait = saif tea. While it's true that the bigger car wins in a collision (thank you physics), it is also true that a lighter vehicle tends to be more maneuverable, easier to stop/accelerate, and therefore more likely to avoid the accident in the first place (the part of physics that NHTSA guys skimmed).
