I'm planning on leaving the Z stock. I sold the S because I can't afford to spend every night in the garage these days. I'll probably just do coils/exhaust/rims and call the Z good, at least for a couple years... |

I wound up swapping the clutch out, since the carbon clutch I had in it required 10-15 minutes to warm up before driving off, which was kind of a pain. Having to run different tunes depending on the weather was kind of a pain as well...and making sure the stupid thing passed inspection was not the most fun I spent. |

That would be a stop light surprise for the Guy next to you when you took off ! Nice one RZ. Thanks for the pics. I would smell like rubber everytime I drove something like this and the tire store would be in my Speed dial.

S2Kfromhell kept breaking driveline parts. Playing with me, or shortly after as I recall, he broke his transmission case near the output shaft if I remember correctly. Stuff I don't have a clue how you could "beef up". That was on his 4XX whp street tune. Is there a way to actually bulletproof the S2K's driveline for any sensible amount of money (Say, less than a new Z06 or Viper or something that makes near that power with only light mods)? The diff is pretty easy. There's a guy now that will reinforce the casing and cryo treat the gears pretty inexpensively. I actually had the diff from a 300ZX twin turbo mounted up on my build. Realistically, it's never going to be as reliable as something off the showroom floor though. I spent most evenings tightening bolts and making sure everything was working right-- things most people don't really want to do with their cars. I didn't have the time to play with it anymore, which is how I would up with the Z. |
