Came in contact with a G8 GT
On my way to my parent's house, I was driving through medium traffic and there was this white Pontiac G8 GT that appeared to be taunting me for about three blocks. Due to the amount of traffic, I didn't bite. Now I'm curious as to how my Z would fare against the G8 GT. What do you guys think?
|
At a 1/4 mile track it's really a driver's race with the advantage going to the Z. The G8 GT's are solidly in the 13 second bracket.
|
Throw in some twisty turns, and I'd assume the Z would come out ahead.

And M3, optionally. |
was just checking out the specs on that car and I was surprised to see that it weighs 4000 lbs. Its also got a 6.0L V8 with 365 hp and 385 tq. and can do 13.7 secs in the 1/4 mile.

I had one riding my butt on the highway a few months ago, so I "separated" from him by way of 4th gear. Surprisingly, he hung with me for a lot longer than I thought.
I got a call from my fiance who works as a police dispatcher, and she asked me "Were you just racing a Pontiac on the interstate?" I was SO worried, but it turns out he's one of her coworker's boyfriends that knows I drive the 370z. He called her to say how fast our "little car is". |

My wife's car is a G8 GT, when i got my Z i was very disappointed in how it felt in the tq department. But i guess that's what i get for driving the G8 around for like 3 months while waiting for my Z to come in. And the G8's trunk is huge you can fit 3 dead bodys in there no problem. The Z is still way way hotter but they are both fun too drive. This is the only pic i have of it in my profile.

It is not a Pontiac - it is a LH drive Holden Commodore, built in South Australia by
General Motors Holden, based on the Commodore VE II platform which is designed in OZ. This vehicle is also exported to the Middle East badged as Chev Lumina. If you want to see what the local hot-up merchants do to them, have a look at HSV.com.au - The Official Holden Special Vehicles Website The latest local incarnation runs 317Kw LS3 with 355mm front brakes, riding on 20" wheels, but they are HEAVY .... ~1800kgs ..... |
Seen one on my way home from work yesterday, that thing just looks like a fat ass, I dont think i'd have any trouble with my current setup shittin all over it. Straights or twisties, take your pick. Its the latest incarnation of the GTO and I've raced my share of them, favoring me of course :)

Is the IS350 modded?
|
I had an IS350 (306hp), and I don't really think it's any faster than my Z. It was still a very fast car though. I miss the Mark Levinson sound system in that thing.

I want to know who Mark Levinson is and why he installs his stuff in Toyotas.
