It's part of their add campaign, scions are selling like crazy, so they're trying to infuse that market with a 'sportier' rear wheel drive car to offset the tC and xD. To fight the Genesis really... To badge it as a Toyota might have hindered it's selling due to the fact they can't do the same price range as they can with a Scion due to Scions really all being < $20k. As a Toyota they wouldn't be able to market it like that. Plus with everyone hating on Toyota it would have drawn unnecessary negative attention with the recall 2 years ago..

No, the original car was the FT-86, branded as a Toyota. And there was going to be a Subaru version still yet named/depicted/unveiled. The FT-86 has since been rebranded as a Scion under the name FR-S. So as it stands right now, expect 2 versions unless Toyota still keeps a few frames for their own brand...

From the few artist depictions of the proposed Subaru model, I can say I am leaning more towards the Toyota/Scion version. But I'm hopeful the final roll out model will look better. And if there would be a turbo'd one, I'd want it to be the Subie. Toyota hasn't messed with Turbo's since the Supra... They're a little out of the game with all the hybrid faggotry.

Seeing that youtube vid posted earlier and the camo'd pics, I really can't see this car being any lighter than 2900lbs and more than likely 3000 to 3100 and if it's only packing 200hp, it's just not going to be that rewarding/fast to drive. If I want a slow but fun car, I'd get a miata.

After the huge PR hit they've taken the last couple of years, they'd better do something amazing, and fast. I don't think there is a more boring line of cars out there than the stuff Toyota puts out.

Plus Toyota has not even tried to bring the Sport Car back after they kill the Supra. And please do not mention the Scion....
