Toyota FT-86/FR-S

It's gonna be considered a boyracer car. Affordable and small and now Scion, boyracer written all over it.

Just imagine if the V-6 Mustang could lose about 400 lbs. It would then come in around 3000, with 300 hp and you could probably get 35mpg in mostly highway driving. I don't see any reason why nearly every brand couldn't create an affordable sports car/coupe near that spec range.

I think the price will come high enough that it won't be.

I've seen evo's called boyracers. And those are more than what these are projected to sell for.

Still it gonna apeal to a younger crowd due to price and it's make (Scion) who advertises to kids. It's gonna be driven by mainly 18 to 20 somethings. I'm not saying its a bad thing. I just think its gonna get a rep of a boyracer.

It might, but due to price, it will be sitting alongside the z. I bet it gets a rep similar to the 350.

Isnt it gonna be $25k. 2 years used will be in or near teens even a kid with $2000 down and 60 month can get the loan.

That said, don't get me wrong -- I'm in the "this car needs decent HP" camp. A lot of the fan base apparently is unconcerned with how fast this thing is in a straight line.
Correctomundo. Toyota wants this to be a "cornering car", but it would be nice if it can compete with similar cars in it's price range in a straight line. I'm afraid that it will be over $25K and have under 200hp, thus making more like an RX-8 than a Z. We can only wait for the final specs to be released...

I'm fine with that. Everything has to start somewhere. At the end, all car companies car about is the bottom line. I don't think Toyota would car about performance if they could sell bajillion of the cars, like the tC.

I mean, how the heck did Scion tC got so many sales between 2004 - 2007? Price and looks. I'm pretty sure performance isn't something Toyota wants if it can't move metal to the people. Hell, there are more convertible mustangs sold in U.S. than 370z.

It is safety regulations, and to make it the same weight or lighter requires more expensive equipment which raise the price.
