Top Gear says "Worst Car EVER Made"
 

Is the Volkswagen Beetle. I finally tried to watch this show, and that's what they decide to talk about?

And you guys say this show is good? :P


(I'm sure it's a great show. I'm just bewildered that they would make that comment on such a great car.)

I would have to disagree. I think the Yugo was the worst car ever. The beetle would be a close second or third though.

I think the beetle is one of the most versatile cars in the world. It can be kept stock to maintain a beautiful, classy look. It can be chopped and dropped to give it a very stylish, modern look. It can be matched with some stingers, 12" lift and some 40" tires to make it look beastly. It can also be modded into a dune buggy.

It's the only used car I've ever owned that will still start up with no issues after 300k miles.

Isn't it the most sold car in history as well?

Never watched the show, just seen some clips people posted. Regardless, worst car ever made? Not the yugo, pinto, vega, corvair, gremlin, peel trident, BMW Isetta ...

Top Gear is incredible. But they say things like this to make people talk. The show takes great artistic license. Don't watch it for the facts. Watch it for the fun. And watch it to see them go hog wild over supercars. It's one of my favorite TV shows. But even then I watch it with a grain of salt, especially with how negative they can be towards America. Jeremy Clarkson especially. He's contradicted himself countless times on the show and in his magazine columns. But damn does that guy make me laugh.

It's subjective. You're allowed to dislike it, just as I'm allowed to stream it on netflix, follow it on demand, and watch every new episode on BBC America.

:iagree: I hate the Beetle. I also know how the Yugo drives, and it sucks.

BTW, the show is awesome. It's the only car show my wife and MIL enjoy watching with me. They LOL all the time.

its my favorite show. It made me want to get the Z, and now i have one. if you are offended by what they said about the beatle, just watch the segment that compares the 370z to the BMW Z4. You will be happy.

this^^ i recently watched the episode where he reviewed the new AM DBS, he liked it but said it was pointless, the DB9 was just as good. then when they went to romania later, he was driving the DBS 'vert and said it was one of the best cars in the world. so like shado said, you can't take what they say literally. though they may actually have that opinion about the beetle for all i know. if you only watched one episode, you may not "get it" but give it a few and you will. might be the best tv show about cars ever, at least entertainment wise

Seriously, this college boy, well back in the day, could fix a beetle engine/drivetrain in my driveway, regardless of the issue. Need a new engine? No problem, it'll be ready by noon, son.

Best selling car in history I believe is the Toyota Corolla. Some would say unfair comparo as the Bugs didn't change all that much except for the Super Beetle of course

Does the engine spontaeously burst into flame like the old Jettas? :icon17:

I've not heard anything good about the new Bugs... they are allegedly very unreliable.

i thoroughly enjoyed the last segment of the new episode, the part about the volcano was good too
