Unbelievable, 2010 Twin Turbo Ford Taurus

2010 Ford Taurus SHO - Fast Cars, Cool Cars and Hot Cars at Fast-Autos.net!

Check this link out, I know this is a bit out of place, but trully is a bit of schocker, ur thoughts?

It's a risk in my opinion. I wonder what kind of market research data they have to go down this road again (no pun intended).

Here's my skepticism:
"Taurus SHO suspension and steering have been sport-tuned to provide discriminating drivers with precise control, confident handling, communicative feedback and a compliant ride,” said Pete Reyes, Taurus chief engineer.

I've heard that before on new American designs only to be sorely dissapointed on test drives. IMO you need to mate handling with that kind of power. I guess proof will be in the pudding...

WHAT??

it might be faster, or same with our Z!!!

^ I doubt it. Sure it has more power but that isn't everything. Go look at the Nurburgering (whatever) thread. Look at what kind of lap times sedans put up. Check out the '09 Cadillac CTS-V. It is supposed to be "the fastest production sedan ever". It's has 550ish HP and only breaks in to the very high 7's. Where as other pure sports cars with MUCH less power posted better times. There are at least 9 cars there with less than 400HP that posted better times. The Z is pure and when it comes to going fast purity counts.

Also I think a twin turbo USDM motor is a recipe for disaster.

No snobbery here, that car is going to be hot. While I doubt it would keep up with a Z on the track, I bet with a little work it would be one heck of a fast car, even around the bends. I'd love to test drive one, but $38K is way beyond my means.

I wonder how successful the pontiac G8 has been, since the sho will be the same style car (high powered, refined, sedan). It doesn't seem like there is a real market for it, but more power to them.

Well, i know that our Z will give better results for track lap times becuase of cornering

I was more referring to straight line speed. 0-60 and quarter miles....

Just imaginning me stopped at the red light, and this twin turbo Taurus lines up next to me, and having a faint bit of feeling that i could get walked on by Ford Taurus...:ugh:

around 3900 lbs

frost 02-13-2009 06:42 PM

After looking at that cheap interior, id take the g8 any day of the week over that.

BanningZ 02-13-2009 06:45 PM

This should be moved into the other vehicle sub forum.

Good find though!

365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lbs. of torque!

Scary...I do not want to be spanked by a Taurus....nah I'd still point and laugh. :D

kdo2milger 02-14-2009 07:13 AM

wow

base price 38,000.00

and its butt ugly too!

too bad, looks nothing like the old sho

msb3079 02-14-2009 08:50 AM

wow... i used to have a '97 SHO... back then i thought it was a neat car and felt quick to me... it wasn't the V6 turbo like the original.. but a V8 Yamaha engine.
i think it's neat they brought this car back... but it looks like they just put some new wheels and a bunch of ugly metal accents on the already butt ugly Ford 500.
i think the idea was good... but the final product... ehhhh

It's a neat idea because of nostalgia, but is nostalgia going to make that car profitable?

PS, if anything, I would like to see the grand national gnx make a comeback.
