Lightbulb 350z buying help. Please

I know this is a 370z forum but could you help me out.
I am looking in to buying a 350z. there are differences in 2003-2006 and
2007-2009 i know that the 07-09 has an upgraded interior bigger engine among other things. if I could get a 2004 350z track for say... 14000 - 25000miles would that be better then a 2008 350z enthusiast... 17000 - 8000miles?
please let me know thank you.

Im same boat kind of

the 2003-2006 (Correct me if IM wrong guys is not a Vq it was a Dsomething motor) had oil consumption issues?

2007-2009 got dual intakes better engine Vq35vhr? Engine 306hp more refinements? New bonnet as well

2008 Would be better overall imo

hmm I'm going to assume you're considering to buy 350z because of your budget. Well, there are huge differences between 2003 to 2008. If you want to get a 350z, get an 2007~2008 model because of HR motor, higher horsepower, better torque than 2005~2006 models, LED tail lights, etc. 17000~18000 miles on 2007 or 2008 350z is way better than 2004 model because of the engine specifications and better mid-range power to top-end power. Also, 2007~2008 350z looks better I think, but this is my opinion only haha. Hope this helped. What about 370z? like used?

Yes, 2003-2006 have VQ35DE engine, earlier models have better low-end torque compared to 2005~2006 model which decreased torque to 260 and horsepower rose to 300 from 287. I believe it's better for you guys to get 2007 or 2008 350z because like I said, VQ35HR motor, higher horsepower, better torque, good mid-range to top-end power, dual intakes, better suspension maybe? (not sure about this one).

Suspension slightly better I want a 370z but I want a Z in general before I go into another Z? you know like an upgrade to a 350z then get a 370z in a couple 2-3 years

Yes, there is nothing wrong with getting 350z now and getting 370z in 2~3 years, but wouldn't you be better off buying a 370z (used) from the start? I'm sure you can find a 2009 model cheap nowadays...

Sounds like some good info so far.

Originally I had my mind set on a 2004 or 2005 Touring, but the more I researched I ended up going with a 2007 Enthusiast. Average vehicles in my area, 2004 with 50K miles for $15.5 or a 2007 with 20K miles for $18k, I had to go with the 2007.

The skinny:
some 2003 and 04's had tire feathering issues
Some 2006's did have oil consumption issues (not mine, it uses absolutly no oil at all) but certainly not all. this was the first rev-up engines that came with manual trannys only (autos still used the DE engine)
in 2006 the weight went up about 150 lbs which kinda negated the rev-up engine advantage.
2007 and 2008 get the HR engine which is VERY stout and very similar the the 370's engine as far as breathing (dual intake manfolds). The problem with the HR is still far less aftermarket solutions than the older engines but it's a far better engine to modify. I believe that some of the 370 forced induction tech will be backfitted to the 07's and 08's if they haven't already.

I'd go for a 2007 or 8 for the engine, or a 2005 for the lighter weight if it were my choice.

I bought an 08 enthusiast after the 370z had been released. It took about 4 months for me to regret not getting the 370z. Luckily for me, a few months later, my wife totaled the car and it was worth $5k more than i had paid for it. Now I'm free to buy the 370z.

All that to say, wait for the 370z. I think knowing what car you realistically want to replace the car you just bought with will make the one you bought feel less special. At least it did for me.

Yeah like others have mentioned I would go for the 07/08 model. Its got the better engine plus the LED tailights, full projector headlights and I like the hump in the hood haha. The only thing is there is no track model for the 07/08 Z. I think its just base/enthusiast/touring and the nismo unlike the million trims the older Z's had. So no brembos or Ray's lightweight wheels.

2007 and 2008 had the Grand Touring trim line for the coupe. It came with Brembos and staggered 18"/19" Rays rims. I had the 2008 model and it was trouble free for 25k miles (traded to a Nismo 370Z).

Just buy my car and get it over with. It's the fastest color, has a great suspension setup, runs very strong, gets over 400 miles to a tank, and it has seat warmers for the cool Montana nights. lol
