So I'm driving to work today, It's about 2:35 when I get to the only passing section on Santiago Canyon Road. Santiago is a 2 lane easy driving canyon road that connects S. Orange County to N./Central Orange County.

There are 6 cars ahead as I approach over a crest and no cars coming the other way so I move out to pass. I get around 4 and tuck in behind some sort of exotic. I didn't recognize it at first glance because it had black bra's over the back, but it did have some vents like a rear engine car would. It also had Michigan plates and a large antenna like a tester would. I though maybe Lambo but it had a triangle shaped exhaust outlet and 3 pipes. I peered around the front and it was trailing a Toyota Yaris hatch back so I knew it was an LFA. Looked pretty sick even with the camouflage. I took a bad pic with my Blackberry, I don't think it's worth trying to post it though...

It is always worth posting.
My view of the LFA is Toyota should have gone and did what Nissan did. Put it under 100,000 (maybe 120,000 since it is slightly better), keep the production down but do not limit anyone who wants to buy.

Oh and GT-R FTMFW. How can you possibly beat its bang-for-buck value and performance?

Some folks seemly forget that what numbers a car is able achieving is just one of many aspects that deem a car worthy of its price and or the victory. Yes, the GT-R puts down great numbers on the track but how does it stack up in other categories?

How rewarding is the actual driving experience?

How much fun are you having while driving the car on a daily basis and or around the race track?

How well does the car communicate with the driver?

Does the car actually engage the driver? Or is it more like the car is driving you?

I mean there are just all kinds of things to consider...

^^ some people like to say that the GTR is numb and soul-less but that just isn't the case. it's just not the italian/german thorough-bred that porsche/lambo/ferrari put out. yes many times the cars from those companies are more "thrilling" to drive but what did you expect from a country like japan?

I would still take the GT-R over the LFA... The LFA is way to Pricey for being a ferrari clone

This is further proof why the GTR is probably the most expensive car I'd ever buy.

Yeah if my mine goal was just achieving great numbers I'd a GT-R over a lot of other cars. But I'm the type of person who actually places more value on the actual experience of driving. The Porsche Cayman S is World renowned for being the best / one of the best “driver’s car” on the planet. I would take a Cayman S and 15-20k any day over of GT-R but that’s just me. The LF-A is obviously in another league.

Default Wow thats poor

Just saw a stock Zr1 on a drag radial run a 11.1 @ 132. For 106k it is the king of fast. If chevy had just added another 10 grand to the price and threw in a high tech automatic to smooth the car out it would have been a perfect super car.

Oh yeah, Toyota could have just bought a hundred GTR's from Nissan put about 50k in weight reduction and had a 125,000 dollar 3300 pound LFA destroyer. Maybe they could have called it GTLFAR. That car could have beat the ZR1

its not just straight line performance. the gtr actually was never meant as a drag racer. its all about track performance, and it does that much better than the zr1. yes, the corvette can be very fast, as fast as or even slightly faster than the gtr, but only in the right hands. anyone less than a professional driver will be unable to handle the zr1 or extract its performance. the gtr on the other hand is much easier to drive consistently. its handling is very predictable and it does not overtax the driver like the zr1 does. for a car relatively speaking that is heavy and underpowered, the gtr posts some very amazing lap times. we still have yet to see any lfa laptimes. what is lexus afraid of?
