Now I can make fun of myself....

So I bought a 2007 Mustang V6 Pony car for my daughters graduation. It is "grabber orange" with black stripes. It has 26000 kms and full load of options. Got a good deal and the balance of factory warranty too. So now I have a 370Z AND a Mustang in the driveway!

After delivery with stripe kit!

And now I can't even load pictures from my iPhone. It sucks to be in the field (military training)! I guess pics will have to wait till I have my computer again...

Nothing wrong with having a Mustang in the driveway. Personally I think its a great car for her to learn on enough power to get you into some trouble but at the same time its got enough omph to get you out of trouble (Before someone jumps on me I'm not talking about running cops but avoiding accidents.) She'll learn that she can't go a million miles per hour in the rain. My first car was a Stang so I'm a big fanboy. Good luck with you're military service, get home safe! Hope everything works out well with her new car.

Thanks. I really like the look of the car and it suits her needs well. Enough metal around her to keep her safe and just enough power to have fun and maintain control. I just can't help but want to start modding it though.....

Nothing wrong with a Mustang. It is actually a good product for the price. Plus how cool is she going to look in that Stang?

Congrats to her and you for being the cool father.

if you got it cheap, then its a good deal of a car to get her. I would NEVER get a nice (expensive) car for my kids as a first car. my mom did that to me, big mistake haha.

Don't say that out loud, you'll put ideas into my head!

well, this is actually her second car and she has been driving for over two years. She has been driving my old Contour getting experience and saving for this car. She was told that we would match whatever she saved towards it. Plus grandma and grandpa kicked in some grad money to help too.
She has been working two jobs part time for three years and has been paying all her own costs of insurance and gas in the contour too.
In the end she will have about half of the purchase price left to pay me back. I am not giving her a car for free or she would never appreciate it the way she would a car she was paying for.
In the end she is getting a nice car and I am getting a responsible daughter. Fair trade I think!

Ya. This thing is in mint stock condition but it just begging for a CAI and a throttle body spacer....

But then I remembered that daddy wants a new CBE for the Z!

didymus 05-01-2010 02:55 PM

Definitely an upgrade from the contour!

Tell her that since you matched her portion of the Mustang, it's only fair that she matches your portion of the CBE for the Z... :icon18:

V6 Mustangs are great cars for young girls. They always like how they look, they're not powerful enough to get silly with, and they're sporty enough for them to feel like they're having fun.

wheee! 05-01-2010 10:55 PM

She is definitely excited about driving this car. I just have to teach her to drive standard first.... She is a good driver so I know she will learn fast.

wheee! 05-01-2010 10:56 PM

M4A1, you are just a troublemaker!

wheee! 05-12-2010 11:06 PM

Added pictures to first post!

Stang looks great, definitely a great second car with not too much power but not too little either. Congrats to her!

Nice looking Pony!:tiphat:Especially with the stripes added!

fullmonty 05-13-2010 01:56 AM

Looks good!

CBRich 05-13-2010 08:25 AM

Definitely needed the stripes to break up all that bright orange.

IMO you need to dump the side stripes now.

Steve -- you are an *******.

CrownR426 05-13-2010 09:00 AM

Get her a turbo![:

:icon17: The side stripes are part of the Pony package. I like them because it breaks up the wall of orange as well as lets GT owners know she is driving a 6 banger and maybe they will leave her alone!

The straight orange was just too much. In the end, it really doesn't matter as she LOVES it!

And as for you, Crown; Keep your Turbo ideas to yourself! She already has an issue with wheel hop and traction!! I turned down a supercharged '07 V6 for the same reason: too much power, not enough skill....

How bad was the insurance hit. I tried buying a car for my son and the full coverage was 3200 a year. Hes never had a ticket.

Crazy... My daughter has two accidents (minor fender benders) and pays $153/month. That is without collision though. She pays for any damage she does to her own car. Full coverage is $450/month...crazier!

cptspeed 05-13-2010 04:03 PM

Yeah. I was flabbergasted. Highway robbery.IMO
