Made a Camaro owner mad!

before you read the thread and yeah it's kinda long let me acknowledge that I did act poorly at one point but I tried to apologize. Feel free to flame but figured atleast one person here would laugh :tiphat:

I think it's against policy here to link to other forums...ie, forum-wars.

?

NYBladeZ 04-13-2010 10:30 AM

lol damn, alright so basically this guy got a new v6 camaro and I kinda mentioned the negatives about camaros in general. He started spewing out real dumb #'s and I countered with facts articles and other sources which kinda made him mad. He then started taking shots at the Z's in general stating the v6 camaro was a high 13's car and well I didn't let up, in the end he wanted to race for $1250 I offered to run stock v. stock at a track, but the forum kinda got mad at me for raining on his parade so I apologized.

370Zsteve 04-13-2010 10:37 AM

$1250 you should take the bet :stirthepot:

Damm, you could have won $1250 :p

NYBladeZ 04-13-2010 10:46 AM

would have been bad karma besides he would have probably done something shady like nitrous or something else stupid

Lug 04-13-2010 10:49 AM

A V6 camaro won't even break into the 13's. The only time they have for one in DragTimes is 14.4 sec. Hell, even every 350Z ever made will take it.

i dunno. i have seen quiet a few bad drivers in some 350z. lol. like the 4-5 Z runnign 14.4 and slower on dragtimes heh. thats just sad.

back to the OP. that kid didnt have a grand to throw down on a race. if he had that kinda money to throw away he would have got a SS.

Liquid_G 04-13-2010 12:12 PM

why do v6 camaros even exist?

They are the volume sellers.

Jeffblue 04-13-2010 12:15 PM

a muscle car with a v6 is about as valid as a FWD sports car.

m4a1mustang 04-13-2010 12:16 PM

Like I said, the V6s are the volume sellers. The V8s wouldn't exist without sales support from the V6s.

kenchan 04-13-2010 12:49 PM

you guys should race backwards and see who wins.

Zigen5 04-13-2010 01:42 PM

ROFL....:iagree:

NYBladeZ 04-13-2010 01:46 PM

seriously in reverse it'd be even, and I mentioned that his car was a volume car in my "facts" it just further pissed him off. I think he was hoping the more $ he threw the more likely I'd be scared away. Still I wouldn't have run him, the economy sucks I don't want to take his $.

To compete with v6 Mustangs in 'lame vs. lame' duels.

U-NVmyZ? 04-13-2010 02:49 PM

i would b upset if u were bashing my car.. but also i would never get a v6 camaro... lol so basically.. wut im trying to say is... v6 camaros and mustangs r asking for it.. :D

ChrisSlicks 04-13-2010 03:15 PM

The interesting thing about the V6 Camaro is that it gets off the line pretty briskly. It put half a car on a Saleen Mustang to 60 before he pulled away.

I'm pretty sure that's because the V6 Camaro is geared nicely for quick getaways and it doesn't have too much power to where it's fighting for traction like the Saleen is.

Most drag races on street tires are even or close to even up until the first 60' or so where you can really get the power down and the faster car actually begins to pull.

Don't get caught sleeping on the "11" Stang V6, as it ran a 13.7 1/4, 5.1 sec to 60 and trapped 102 at M/T and it trapped at 104 at C/D. So its no longer the turtle it use to be!

I totally agree. I had the snow tire advantage which are sticky even at low temperatures :p

But the comment is that finally the American V6 cars (Camaro/Mustang) are quite drivable and actually peppy, their not the sub 200hp dogs they used to be.

NYBladeZ 04-13-2010 05:19 PM

I washing bashing I was giving objective criticism and he had this funny habit of making up #'s frankly I tend not to care what others think but I can't tolerate spewing out wrong info.

A genesis coupe 3.8 would eat up a V6 camaro. What makes him think its gonna happen with a Z. Lol... anyway I liked the SS a lot when I rented but I wouldn't even bother with the V6. Maybe that's y he stayed talkin smack? He probably knows most enthusiasts would never buy a V6 camaro.

Enthusiasts wouldn't by the V6 Camaro but lots of people will, not everyone has an interest in going fast (my wife for instance). The V6 is peppy and plenty powerful enough for a normal driver, it still turns heads and gets plenty of thumbs up. Probably the biggest decider for people that have no interest in the extra power is price. The V6 manual starts at $22K, the 1SS starts at $31K but are impossible to find so you are stuck getting a 2SS at $34K+. That's more than a 50% increase in price, I would call that significant.

I have to assume that it's because the camaro's 4,000,000,000 lb curb weight keeps the tires from being able to lose traction off the line.

:D

whats the diff between 1SS and 2SS is it the RS package?

NewlyIMPORTed 04-14-2010 12:15 PM

also to make a note i was in Classy Panama city beach for spring break.. you know frost heaven and this dude in a V6 camaro looked at me when me and a bunch of people crossed the street he put his automatic in neutral and revved his engine he was embarrassed when he was returned with hysterical laughter from 10 college students

2SS is basically 1SS + 2LT. I.e. it adds leather, auto-dimming mirrors, heated seats, upgraded stereo etc. The RS package is a separate appearance package you can add to an LT (V6) or an SS.

The V6 does not have an inspiring exhaust sound, although it is a full duel exhaust system. It's got a slight burble at startup but then it quiets right down and it never sounds excited even in the higher RPMs.

A coworker owns a 2SS. The stock exhaust sounds like a window-unit air conditioner from the 1990s.
