Toyota confirms Toyota FT-86 sports coupe coming to North America
Posted @ FT86club
The Toyota Motor Sales USA President & COO stated in this interview that the North American market would be getting the Toyota FT-86 when it gets made. He was asked when the Supra or another sports car was coming to North America to which he answered that no Supra would be coming but that the FT-86 would be. Does this model have brakes?
|
Will it come standard with the throttle problems that their other cars have? :D j/k....maybe

Standard gas pedal sticking recall with debut?
I hope Subaru version won't have that problem. lmao |
no thanks. i like my gas pedal working properly.

You would have to be insane or suicidal, to buy any Toyota right now, or Lexus! I value my life, I wouldn't even ride in one of their automobiles. I fear a Toyota in my rear view mirrors, more than a black and white patrol car!
|
My girlfriend's dad (a total douchebag) just bought her a 2010 Corolla. I was like... you gotta be f'ing kidding me.
Oh and this guy owns 760Li, S600, and A8L in China. And you know how expensive cars are there. lmao |
If it comes to market with the GPS Track Day Technology, that would be pretty sick!
|
I don't think that's ever gonna happen from a Toyota, Lou. hahaha
|
Hey guys, dont bash Toyota. They are a superb company and one of the largest auto corporations. I feel bad that all this crap is happening to them, but I do think they are doing a superb and note worthy job of taking care of and fixing their mistakes.
But hey just food for thought, all these american based safety complaints, done by our goverment, come only four months after the Obamanation takes control of GM motors, one of Toyotas biggest competitors, who has also (in the past 4 months) released a strong marketing campaign directly targeting and critisizing Toyota. Could this all be a big conspiracy in an attempt to boost the american auto industry who is suffering for the superior japanese market. (I mean why would Obama be pissed and do something like this, the only thing he has done for our country in his first year in office is the cash for clunkers program which benefited the economy, unfortunetly it was the economy of Japan) :stirthepot: |
Not to go off topic, but Toyota has never had to handle a problem like this before, hence why the media is having a field day with them, due to the mistakes Toyota has made handling this situation.
Back on topic, I wonder what the horsepower will come out to be |
200HP is what I hear.
|
That's it. Sounds like a go-kart
|
nawwww theres GOTTA be at least 300
|
Subaru version maybe?
|
322HP would be on the (STI) Impreza. (215HP for the WRX)
Unless my info is wrong, the Toyota is getting the NA, which is only 161HP |

The winning factor this car is riding on is the sub 3,000 pound weight limit, 200HP sub 3,000 might be a nice combo at a cheap price. |

It's a Toyobaru! Subaru is making a mirror car! 200 to 250HP, 4cylinder, a little smaller body than the Z.
|
Power to weight guys, always remember!
This is going to be a great tuner-friendly rwd car from toyota! They should've resurrected the MR2, one of my favorite toyota cars. That car is badass! |

FT-86 design might change. Toyota’s North American design studio CALTY has survived the selection process to have its version of the FT-86 accepted as the basis of the new model instead of European and Japanese efforts.

redesign rumors were false!!!! the car will be shown in Geneva 2010 next month! see here: Toyota FT86 design rumors false, interview with FT86 designer Jaromir Cech

rumorous article id bet :) my guess is the base model would be probably smth below 200 maybe even 160.. just waaaay underpowered to let the tuners do their first chip unlock and then do some forced induction at stage 2.. with a nice turbo setup should run at 300whp with stock internals.. my2c. or my hopes :D

the ONLY way toyota can make a comeback is if they release the ft-hs/supra.
|
Toyota still making profits despite of the recalls and news media reports.
I have a Toyota RAV4 that is not on the recall list and never had any problem with it. |
the way i see it is toyota can not be destroyed very good cars only 1 screw up so still good
