*sigh* I was sooo close to getting one today, everything checked, I had good credit, they were having a sale which took down the $26k coupe to $22k and my mom was going to put down $5K, only problem was that they wanted proof that I made $3k a month which is $2k more than what I usually get. My mom could co-sign, but she still has more important stuff to pay off. Oh well, will have to wait still we get things sorted out. I was amazed that my credit scores were good when they checked it , the saleman did offer to forge a paycheck, but out of good conscious declined....I didn't want to end up in deep poop if discovered.

You should of gOne in prepared. Know your credit score and have approved check in hand.

I financed through pen fed and I wrote in my application what I make a month and they didn't ask for proof.

You really should work hard and save money then buy the car. Good job not forging a paycheck.

yeah we did go unprepared, I wasn't planning on getting one today, but my mom was trying to see if she could finance herself, then of course they tried me, but I really didn't expect to have a good score. Well save up for next year and see if they have the sale again. Don't know if we have pen fed here.

If you only make a grand a month you probably shouldn't be buying a $22K car. Of course I hate it when people preach things like that so . . .

Sorry you didn't get it, they are pretty nice vehicles.

I make about 3k/mo gross ATM (took a cut to move to my current job unfortunately) and it still takes some discipline to handle everything. Granted I got my Nismo for about 38k and put down about $4,500 but it's still $700/mo.

Just save up some more for a down payment and don't get too anxious

Thanks for the moral support you guys...lol. Anyways, after realizing that my credit was good (been rejected alot of times before) I noticed how much a car will really mean to me. It obviously going to be money well spent since I will be using it as a DD, rather than a hobby like shooting....which I was saving up to go to the gun show this weekend...lol but I decided not to. Got a whole year of saving in front of me, and might was well while the company I work for has alot of cars that need to be driven (test driver p/t).

I honestly thought I was nuts when I decided paying 300 a month on a car was okay making only 3k. Basically, I feel my decision was not financially a good move, so wtf to everyone else.

I am sorry you didn't get the car . Hopefully if you save up and improve your credit score, you will get it in no time.

I believe the rule of thumb is that your car payment should be 15% (max) of your income. It's suggested to keep it at 10%. My car payment is ONLY 6% of my income.

If you count combined income my payment is 7.5%. I suppose that's not too bad. I just hope my fiance doesn't want a better car in the future...

Hey man you will get that car one day wether it be a GTI a Z or something other, and when you do get that car the feeling in the drivers seat looking back on all those months of saving and hard work will only feel that much better as you wrap your hands around that leather steering wheel. The sense of accomplishment and that feeling of pride in your vehicle is what makes it truly near and dear to you. Save up and then savor that moment of pride and accomplishment.
