Anyone have connections at an Acura Dealership

Long story short, I keep getting screwed over by Acura dealerships here in MD and VA. Acura as a company is really screwing over customers right now by randomly hiking up MSRP for their cars. The dealerships are really taking advantage of this and making their usual shitty experience even worse.

I happen to have some airline credit that needs to be used up. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the US at this point and drive the car back. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CONNECTIONS TO AN ACURA DEALERSHIP THAT WILL HOOK ME UP? Please and thank you.

bump?

Have you considered not buying an Acura? Or buying slightly used from someone else?

My experience with Acura dealers has been absolutely horrible. Not that that's terribly different from most dealers lol. But they offered free maintenance services and then lied about wait times or even changed my scheduled appointments without notification.

After years of being a faithful Honda customer, I gave up on them and started buying other brands. I was not treated well by a Honda dealer in Toledo just to test drive a car (I ended up buying TWO Toyota Avalons In April 2021 when pricing was real good) and the quality of their cars is really declining each year as the bean counters (I'm a bean counter myself so I hope that's not Karma) keep cutting and cutting. Acura being part of Honda may lead to similar experiences.

I bought a Honda after the Acura and I can confirm Honda quality is definitely not what it used to be. I will say that the Honda dealer was great until they got new management two years after the purchase. After that happened, I found myself fighting with management to get them to repair/replace items that were clearly covered by my warranty. Thankfully my ex-wife took the car in the divorce.

Thanks for the response guys. Out of all the SUVs that I've looked into so far, the 2022 MDX and 2022 GX460 are the only SUVs that I have interest in. The GX460 would be the clear choice, but the terrible MPG is why we are avoiding it (we travel a lot)...plus we have a 4runner already.
I'm trying to compromise with my wife. She really likes the Audi Q8 (it does look nice) and just wants all the new tech stuff. I personally like no tech and old school cars lol, but this car isn't for me so I have to respect what she wants and that's only fair. I'm trying to stay as far away from German vehicles as I possibly can and stick with JDM. The Q8 is too expensive anyways...not that the other options are all that much cheaper.
I've never bought an Acura before, but, wow, their dealerships are ***. I just don't know if it's the time we're in or if they've always been like this. I'm very put off by them. We were very close to buying a GX460, until a realized Acura redesigned the MDX and basically checked all the boxes my wife and I wanted. We never had any issues with the many Lexus dealerships we've visited (although most dealerships in general leave a bad experience). I think that says a lot. Also, used cars are out because financially I don't think it's worth it right now. The 2022 models of the MDX and GX460 are the only ones to consider for us (so used really isn't an option anyways), because they come with wireless apple carplay which is one of her main requirements.
Anyways, I think my two options are to just wait for a good deal on the MDX or wait for the new GX which is coming with the TT V6 from the new Tundra and Sequoia. I prefer NA over TT, but it's a Lexus and my wife also loves the GX460 so it'll be a win. Oh, and when I say a "good deal" on the MDX I just mean MSRP lol. I'll try to give a quick rundown of why I'm so put off with Acura right now. I actually made an order and was one week away from picking it up. In the meantime, Acura raised the MSRP by $1k for no apparent reason. I fought my dealer about it because I already placed the order and they managed to meet me half way ($500). Then, when they said the car would be here in a week, they asked to do some paper work and finance stuff. I made it very clear that I was financing through my own bank when ordering the vehicle. Well, that didn't work for them anymore and the finance manager got REAL aggressive with me and basically said he's not going to sell me the car unless I finance through them. At this point I was just so dumbfounded (some other things happened) that I asked for my deposit back and went on my way. After calling other dealerships, they are all asking for $5k-$10k mark up because "the situation is getting worse."
For those who are reading, you are probably wondering why the hell I'm even trying to buy a car right now lol. Trust me, this is the last thing I want to do right now, but I have a baby on the way. And then you might be wondering, well, why don't you just get a corolla and strop crying. My answer to that is I don't want to :D First world problems, I know.
If you guys think I should look into another vehicle that you think may meet our requirements or just have any advice, it is appreciated. Thanks!

Get the GX if you can. The MDX has been a pretty decent car over the years, so it's not a bad choice by any means. But Lexus is a far superior make than Acura in every way. Stay away from the Q8 from what I hear.

The Mercedes R63 is pretty sweet :)

babyzilla 02-05-2022 09:55 AM

I completely agree with everything you said.
Do you know how rare the R63 is?!?? Lol

JARblue 02-05-2022 10:03 AM

Yeah they made what, like 200 of them for the US market lol? They've been going on BaT for around $30-40K

babyzilla 02-05-2022 01:08 PM

Probably less than 100 are still worthy of buying and that's wishful thinking. Doug DeMuro did a really good segment on it. $30k-$40k is not bad.

Chrysler Pacifica with an AMG 6.3 engine lol

Oh, man. No, I just bought a new Acura and feel that I got a great deal. They marked it up $1000 (above MSRP+Deliver+standard doc fees). But for that $1000, I got all weather floor mats (about $450 retail), and mud flaps ($200 value), and an interior warranty (repairs interior damage...usually I would say this is stupid, but I have had steering wheel damage before on most vehicles. The leather will fade/peel/crack).

That is not an Acura problem, that is a dealer network problem.

Again, dealer problem. My Acura dealer has been better than par for the course. They are part of Penske automotive group, and I also found the Toyota dealer to behave the same way from same auto group. Ironically, the Landers group Toyota dealer sucked. Just like every other Landers dealer I've been to of other brands. It's network/dealer, probably.

I considered an MDX but just didn't like the 3rd row. I don't need it. I ended up going with a 2022 RDX ASpec Advance and absolutely love it. The MDX is like a bigger RDX, but with a V6 instead of a 2.0 turbo. I would heavily recommend the Type S, though, if you go with an MDX. That was another issue, the MDX needs that Type S power to be fun, IMO.

I did race an ASpec MDX back when I had my RAV4 Prime. From a roll it wasn't bad, that 10-speed auto helped it a lot, but I pulled it just fine. The RDX, I think, would not have gone that way for me from a roll in the Prime. Never got a chance to find out. I do know my RDX is faster than my CX5, and slower than the prime from a 0-60, as the 1st and 2nd gears don't get full boost.
