There's something I don't know it is true or not yet: Clarkson speaks about warranty and controls-off button (pushing it invalidates the warranty). At the time the GT-R was a rumor I heard the same thing and, above all, I was told that changing anything with aftermarket parts would have prevented the car from working correctly.
What do you know about?

A couple people have engaged R mode too much and have fried their trannies and the black box tells Nissan techs this info. Nissan is holding them responsible for the $20k bill.

Yea, it costs a quarter of the car's value to replace it.

Why have a product and give it a mode that you can't even use. It's stupid.

If you own a GTR or are named Jeremy Clarkson, you more than likely have a small penis and need Cialis.

I can sorta get his POV on this. He is a pretty seasoned driver as I gather so he can handle a supercar on the track thus he doesn't need quite as much help as a more novice driver. However, those of us that are not very good (like myself) would probably really enjoy a car that has all these vehicle control features that help you be an excellent driver even if you may not really be one.

So what he probably considers as "nanny systems" probably really do detract from the excitement where as those of us who don't get to driver supercars everyday still probably find the car very fun and thrilling. I know if I had a GT-R it would put a smile on my face everday.

In regards to the traction control issue. I had one quick question. As I understoof it race mode was just one of the 3 different modes and did not necessarily turn of the VDC? Can someone clarify this? If this is true it would be very disappointing since you will never be able to use your launch mode without breaking your warranty.

The fact is that Clakar$e was on a track - and every time you track the GT-R you 'switch off' the Nissan warranty anyway. So that car's warranty was suspended whether he had VDC on or off.

When you leave the track you have have to take the car to a Nissan High Performance Centre to have it checked out. If it's ok they will re-establish the warranty. This is true in the UK anyway - is it true in the USA?

On the road, if you use launch control you invalidate your warranty - this process includes switching VDC off.

oh - and he's still king of the twats. He's not a good driver - he's just been taught a few skidding tricks - he's a private school big headed bully boy hack. Yes, I don't like him a great deal. If it was someone else doing that review, I might agree with them!

As I have said in the past, I'm not a fan of the GT-R. What it can accomplish from an engineering stand point is amazing, I won't take that away from it. But really, I use a feature that is installed in the car, from the factory mind you, or god forbid I drive a sports car like it should be driven and poof Nissan says see ya later on regards to the warranty. No thanks.

I sure don't like 'flappy-paddle' gearboxes, Cotton.
