Honda Civic 2 door Coupe is Dead
I know it's not really a direct competitor to the 370Z, but I still feel it is important to mention and discuss here. What I thought was the biggest selling, most popular, most mainstream and most affordable 2 door 'sporty' coupe is dead.
It's not a sports car, but I mean if even Honda can't make a business case for a 2 door Coupe, do you think this is an indicator of what could be fall our segment next? https://motorillustrated.com/honda-c...-lineup/53203/ Last edited by viiv; 07-19-2020 at 08:28 AM. |

Although upsetting, it really isn't surprising. Cars are going away (for now) and being replaced with SUVs. I predict this will continue until the next gas crunch.

Much of the generation who are in or will be in the car market grew up in mini vans and SUVs. Less attracted to cars with 2 doors. I suspect the void will be filled by Korean mfrs. Volkswagen is big enough to keep their 2 door cars alive.....for now.

LOL, I am sure some of the people who buy the Si trim level think that they are actually getting a sports car.

SUV/Truck/Jeep never impress me. Sure for work or real off road but not for daily drive. Too big, block vision of others and wasteful. I read in a US publication that most SUV's carry 1 person, a child and 1/2 ounce of nutmeg on most days LOL- Waste. I dont see how having something so large to manage, all that mass, is fun at all. Parking locations are not all super big either. Weak brakes to cover the mass involved etc. Unsafe to me. |

Speaking of excess, I still see a Hummer once in a while. With just a driver and all his backrest monitors running. I'd rather see a 2dr civic than that kind of foolishness.
