Now Buick going "carless"...
Just read last night that Buick has decided to cancel their last car models as of the 2020 MY. American branded cars are becoming fewer and far between anymore. What's left, the 300, Charger, Malibu, and a few Cadillacs??? Geez!! The SUV:Car ratio has done a complete 180 vs 30 years ago.
Hope this trend works out well for the Big 3... :ugh2: |
Not to be a hater, but American manufacturers are seemingly a knife in the sedan gunfight. It's just a smart move to bow out imo.
I mean, a Buick just never comes to mind at all for me. Most other sedans kinda scream "rental car". |
If it wasnt for Corvette & camaro, I wouldn't probably look at GM.
THE Colorado zr2 ,blazer and Silverado are nice. But I dont think I'd buy one. The SS sedan with the 8 speed transmission and updated looks could've been a hit. But you know, GM. Similar to Nisssn in their thinking but Nissan fails on a higher level. |

the other point, the some of the Buick cars were being built by Opel, which they sold. And the agreement was to build cars till/through 2019. |
This is terrible. Hopefully, GM wont kill off Oldsmobile.

Hmmm... now you've got me thinking about the Plymouth Satellite w/ Magnum 440. |
Buick going "carless".
I could careless. I've never had a lust for driving my grandfather's refrigerator on wheels. |

In some ways, both are kinda nice inside. Accented lights and details, clean layout at first glance, some decent materials...and then when actually using the UI, it felt sloppy. The instrument cluster was visibly out of date. Somethings were just more nice on the surface than anything. Drove ok but was vague. The tire noise was a surprise for what's supposed to be a luxury car. It drove ok, but not like near-$50 grand ok. I think in GM's case, this is probably telling that they should just have one luxury brand in Cadillac as that seems more prominent — and I'm sorry to say that as Buick has had quite an extensive history. Supposedly Buick's biggest consumer market is China. It's an unfortunate sign of the times. I'm thinking GM is probably spread thin in creating well-invested thought across every brand and line. And don't get me started on GM commercials. "No DiS iS mY bUicK", and the freakin cartoon guy a few years back. |
Say what you will about Buick, but they always seem to have decent quality reviews and I was really hoping they would roll out a production model of the Avista concept.

Buick is super popular and high end in China, the brand won't die.
