All your mustang dreams came true.

An all electric mustang SUV.

It's what every enthusiast ever wanted. :koolaidwall:

Prostitution more like! :icon17:

What exactly does this abomination have to do with the most popular, enduring, and successful muscle car name ever? Oh, the tail lights. Of course. I get it now.

FORD: :gtfo2:

SouthArk370Z 11-18-2019 04:33 PM

I've owned about a dozen Mustangs (1964.5-1972 models) over the years and that (the 2021) is not what I think of when I think Mustang. But I can't get too worked up over it - it's just a name. If I needed an SUV, I wouldn't not buy it because they call it a Mustang (might remove the running horse badges, though heehee).

Cyber370 11-18-2019 06:57 PM

It’s embarrassing for all present Mustang owners. I can’t believe that Ford could not come up with a different name for this abomination. Seriously? I can’t really blame Ford for making stuff that people want which is SUV’s and pickup trucks.
I just hope Nissan doesn’t get any similar ideas for the new Z. Wouldn’t surprise me though.

I'm afraid that's why chevy postponed the camaro 7. To compete with this b4 putting out the combustible version.

So I'm probably soon to suffer the same embarrassment and humiliation as these mustang owners. I'm just glad we didnt embarrass ourselves first.

Speaking of which. I roasted a 5.0 last night. Lol. :driving:

ZCanadian 11-18-2019 09:01 PM

This on the very weekend when Ford vs Ferrari hit theatres, too.
They’ve got all of the sense of timing of a pregnant Catholic.

NissanFreak81 11-19-2019 07:46 AM

The classic Mustang name is officially dead! Slapping the name on a soccer mom crossover is a slap in the face.

JARblue 11-19-2019 09:25 AM

Elon is excited because he needs some other company to build his charging network infrastructure

Except it probably won't be compatible, or something stupid like that...

JARblue 11-19-2019 12:14 PM

:rofl2: proprietary charging stations :rofl2:

dave11 11-19-2019 12:52 PM

I've had Mustangs also. That isn't a Mustang. They even had to run a sound track so you can hear it accelerate! So sad.

BGTV8 11-19-2019 01:20 PM

The day an EV can tow my 4.8tonne tow rig 800 klicks without stopping to refuel (10 minutes to fill-up allowing freeway exit and re-entry) I'll accept EV but not until then.

I have a hunch that the future is actually hydrogen as home-based solar can regenerate a fuel cell storage, but either way, the infrastructure investment for either is still substantial and recharge time for batteries is still too long.

The transition will take 2 generations.

sunkist350z 11-19-2019 03:05 PM

Man that thing is hideous, its like what Nissan did with 370zki snowmobile but that was a joke but this is reality Lol.

https://news.yahoo.com/ford-tells-de...222700084.html

A dealership has 47 pre-orders for the mustang and they call that a success...

The camaro sold 37,000 units and they call that a failure. :ugh2:

axmea? 12-05-2019 12:11 AM

For a dealership, that is not bad.

I saw the Mach E at the LA Auto Show and it looks good. I personally like it. Does it have the specs for an enthusiast willing to try new things and open to the idea for around 60K? Yes.

That front grill/headlights reminds me a bit of an infinity suv for some reason.

Can’t wait for the upcoming corvette crossover to compete with this. :ugh2:

(Disclaimer: there is no upcoming corvette crossover...yet)

Agreed.

It was nothing more then a way to grab attention and take advantage of the Mustang name / reputation. No one would care about this if it was branded a Taurus or Escort.

cossie1600 12-05-2019 11:45 PM

Didn’t they have an suv turd named Taurus sport or something.

I think this would've been a perfect TAURUS SHO. They could've done some commercial about the 80's taurus when taurus was kool. Had a robocop theme talking about the future... too. Then sold it as a Taurus SHO-E

But look at how many people are unaffected by the breaking of tradition and values. This is what lliberalism does to minds and spirits. It kills tradition in order to reshape people thinking.
So whose the brainwashed? The traditionalist who tries to preserve the purity of the sports cars history, invokng progress without changing the tried and true integrity of a sports car?
Or the progressive that wants progress thru radical change and destroying the very fabric of what made car enthusiasts unite for over a century in competitive fun.

Since we're about radical change. Lets give ev's long azz names...
That thing should be called the
"Ford Treehugging fruity pants express SUV." :bowrofl::tup:

There was the Ford Taurus X, which as you so eloquently stated, was a turd :icon17:

It’s sad what is happening. I’m all for innovation and progress, but not at the expense of killing tradition. Enthusiasts, especially the Mustang community will shun this model and their owners, which is understandable. But they will be labeled by Mach E owners as being small minded and stuck in the past. I see this creating a rift in the Mustang community. Why Ford didn’t create a true electric two-door Mustang that upholds its sports car heritage will forever boggle my mind. In the end I guess, all they care about is the almighty dollar.

UNKNOWN_370 12-06-2019 07:27 AM

Motorweeks Taurus SHO in 1989, definitely as they describe the car... it fits the build of this EV

Several of my friends back in the late 80's / early 90's drove Tempos. They were popular, but where boring, unimaginative turd-mobiles. Much like the Aries K and the Chevette.

I had a buddy in high school who used to tell girls he had a Vette. Then he would pick them up for a date in his Chevette. My turd of choice back then was an 87 Dodge Charger. It was a hand-me-down from my Dad. Turd or not, I was thrilled to have it.
