Nissan GTR 50th Anniversary Edition
I was dropping off a friend at a Nissan dealership so he could pick up his Nissan Titan in the service department and low and behold in the sales department showroom they had a 2020 Nissan GTR in Bayside Blue with 5 miles on it truly an amazing and unique vehicle to own. I didn’t know Nissan made a 50th Anniversary Edition GTR model? Too bad the maintenance schedule is that of a trust fund baby. What is the Z community’s thoughts on the new 2020 Nissan GTR and the future of the GTR model?

The excessive 50th badging is cheesy. The strip isnt great.
And they haven't upgraded to a newer dct. The nav screen looks cheap. If I had the money I would at least the track version of it. And over priced. Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk

Overall impressive and sharp look. The high price point leaves the new GTR in the hands of few. Very smart on Nissan’s part for continuing to produce the GTR model as well as the 370Z model giving them popularity in the current vehicle market. Changing the turbochargers on the track edition and Nismo GTR from the GTR GT3 race car to make more power great option. The six speed dual clutch transmission is mounted at the rear for better weight distribution and drive all four wheels from the all wheel drive system. The transmission’s R mode has been improved for more aggressive down shifts. I believe that Nissan has kept the same transmission because it works but in the future transmission may change if Nissan does actually make the move to go hybrid with the GTR model. As far as the suspension enthusiasts must love the Bilstein suspension with adjustable dampers. The muffler is now titanium with burnt blue exhaust tips nice touch with the exhaust. There are some improvements to the new 2020 GTR model.

Most importantly to enthusiasts at the track performance has never lacked from what I have seen in my experience. In stock form I have seen the GTR put down high 10’s and low 11’s in the 1/4 mile which is impressive for no modifications done. One of the accolades for the GTR I have seen them run with the best competing with the McLaren 570S,Audi R8,Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Pathetic, Nissan ... it reminds me of the all the upgrades and development that was done for the 'special' 50th anniversary Z
The GT-R is a fine car. Bit overpriced these days. But from what I can tell pretty much all of the changes (except for badging) are available on the new 2020 model and not exclusive to the 50th edition.

Love the car, love the color, but that’s it.
Also, I hate how an “exclusive” of the exclusive car is on open display where people/kids can climb into it and touch everything with their grimy hands.

Saw one on the road last week. The color is great I must say, wife was drooling over the blue. But, I really don’t care for the badges. The rear end is way too busy with the 50th anniversary verbiages.

The gtr is litterly using old tech from mid 2000's. And its heavy. The gtr is good if you can get it at a used car price. If anything, the tranny or the engine should of/must been updated. The interior, especially the nav screen, should been updated better or changed. The gtr and 370 are cool cars but its unfortunate that nissan doesnt have the funds to update the cars but prices keeps going up. Doesnt make sense. How many of you guys would buy a cell phone that for example a iPhone 6 and pay 1k or buy a iphone 11 for 1k? Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk

Pretty sure this was mentioned in one of the articles posted in the 50th Anniversary Z threads. I know I've heard about this one a while ago.
It is what it is: a nice car. Won't make sense to the money-conscious buyer, or someone wanting a more current car, or someone making a build, but there's probably some people out there dreaming since like 2008 and has the means to finally buy it today (and put up with servicing costs). Congrats if it falls into the hands of someone like that. Otherwise, whoever gets one, has a nice car. People buy new Z's. |

You can still get a base Z for $29K brand new. What other car in the sports car market gives you more for less $$$?

MK ULTRA says stickers are kool.
The $130,000 AWD GTR can now brag about being fast as a $60,000 vette with most likely less handling. The GTR is for losers who will overpay greatly to own the dream of being Paul Walker. Both cars hey day has been over for 4+ yrs. Redesign them or let them die.
