I still have an 8 and it is very smooth...acceleration and shifting...best I've ever had. My biggest gripe is not the relatively low power but the MPG. In this day in age, that is just not acceptable anymore...even for a sports car. I do mostly highway and only get 20-21. Problem with the new 16x rotary is that the MPG can no longer be improved just a little...it has to go up a lot. I've heard the 5.0 Mustang GT next year will advertise 30 hwy..with what?..400hp? I've known a couple of people with 350z's that can get close to 30 with mostly highway driving. Mazda cannot bump the hp to 250-275 and only increase the mpg slightly. I don't think people will buy into that unless they make it a 2500-2700lb hardcore 2-seater.
