As a current and happy owner of a M2, I like what Unknown said about the Z above. Even out the weight between front & rear, but they also need to update it. A turbo six is the first must in the update, improve your electric steering feel and keep a manual trans option. But don’t you ever turbo 4 it Nissan, that’s just financial suicide.

If Nissan would do the above. And I’ve given this a lot of thought because I was thinking about this before I purchased the M2. Buy a Porsche 718 (but the turbo 4 turned me off), and get a Leaf as my practical needs, no gas car. I’m willing to sell the M2 and still do this if Nissan came out with a really good Z.

All I know, is Nissan better not pull a Subaru.

Reading through this is interesting; as the Z34 chassis is a great design...Nissan needs to do something to rejuvenate the Z.
I’m finding myself at a crossroad to either build up an older Z34, at a cost of
Or jump in a very comfortable driving coupe like the ZL1 I’m not much interested in the max-track-package; as the one I drove didn’t have it & felt really good.
I’m a pretty big guy & those suede covered seats feel pretty good
The 650/650 +10sp A/T ain’t bad either

I don't really care if Infinity closes shop... I've never really been a fan. To be honest, besides the GTR and Z, I don't really give a rat's narrow aZZ about nissan either. Just keepin' it real, yo.

The GTR is the only competitive product Nissan makes on paper, but the Rogue sure sells well.

CVTs and their associated reliability issues will sink Nissan. CVTs are NOT the future, as evidenced by EVERY other manufacturer going to more speeds in their autos (8 speeds, 10 speeds, etc).

Every automotive forum I frequent makes mention of how poor Nissan quality has been since they went all in on CVTs. I still own a couple Nissans...my manual Z, and a '17 Frontier with the 5 speed auto (which we bought because it's so much cheaper than a Tacoma). Frontiers haven't changed since 2005, so for those bitching about the produce cycle in the Z, the Frontier is 4 years worse than that.

The first gen Titans lasted 10 years longer than they should have as well. The big 3 updates their big pickups every 3-4 years now. Nissan and Toyota lag way behind that, and their sales show it.

Nissan lost me as a customer. Both the ones I have now I bought as 2 year old used vehicles. Then again, I think buying new is for chumps anyways. I try to let someone else take the big depreciation hit for driving a vehicle off the lot and I'll get them 2 years into it on a private party sale with no sales tax, doc fees, and all that other crap dealerships charge.

Tptally agree on the CVT. Frontiers are great trucks. They were a great value in their hay day.

But ummm. if it wasnt for new car buyers. Companies wouldnt bother designing the hot cars the depreciation kings love to buy. Used car buyers dont contribute financially to the growth of a company. New car purchases is what aftermarket parts companies use to decide who is getting lots of mods and whose only getting 2 coilovers & couple intake exhaust mods.

I dont have nothing against a used car purchase. I've done it. But calling them chumps is biting the hand that fed you a $15,000 refund and loads of mods to choose from.

I always buy factory. If it's not fast or whatever enough OEM, then you bought the wrong vehicle.

Agreed. My 370z ownership is why I'll never have another Nissan in the garage. "Chrysler of Japan" is what other forums call Nissan. Shame, because some of their vehicles would be awesome with a bit more quality or not a cvt, or whatever other thing

I just picked up a 2018 Murano SL a few months ago. Got it with 12,000 miles on it and I love it. Bang for the buck was much better then anything else out there in the class. Time will tell how it stands up, but I'm hoping it will be like the 2005 Sentra I just got rid of. That thing wouldn't die.

Default Article asks what I would have done to save INFINITI

Infiniti's Ship Is Sinking - If You Were In Charge Of The Luxury Brand What Would You Do To Turn It Around? - AutoSpies Auto News

For one... I would've not killed the skyline name. Instead I would've made the skyline official in the US as an infiniti.

Two... I would've MADE SURE the Q60 car that should be named the skyline... had all the proper performance to be competitive with the Cadillac ats and alfa romeo giulia.

Three. I would have gone to a HP DCT for the skyline.

4. I would have never attempted to make a luxury car with a CVT

5. I would have made a high performance Qx30.

6. I would have evolved the interior of the Q70 3 years ago and it would be getting another evolution now along with the body.

7. I would've made an infiniti lux sport hot hatch for 40k.

8. Push bargain leases on base models.

9. Make sure my car designs cross generations.

10. Not make electric cars my main focus. Focus on the current markets needs.

I think this is the real make-or-break we didn't quite see Infiniti exercise.

It could've either drawn more people to the brand, or make it look cheap(er).

Yet evidently a lot of people bought IS250's and the like.

And with that, I would've shot for a better competitor to the F-Sport line. If memory serves right, the F-Sport really isn't a major jump mechanically. Mainly some suspension and more prominently, looks — inside and out. Casual buyers eat that like cereal, and Lexus played that smart. Aesthetic and face value impressions go a longer way for net sales.

Maybe I missed the absolute numbers, but at least in California/Bay Area, I a observing see F-Sport Lexus models outnumber recent Q-series Infiniti's. I mean we're talking even 250's and CT's, and then the crossovers — whichever of the UX/RX/etc carry the badge, over any Infiniti QX/FX models.

Actually, it would appear a good share the Q-series cars I see are rentals.
