Took my C6 corvette to the 1/4 track

I took my 2006 C6 corvette 6sp auto to the track for the first time tonight with 50 degree weather. only mods are intake, axleback exhaust, tune and ran a 12.28 @ 117mph...timeslip below. was running consistent 12.3's all night.

Badass!

SeeyaBud86 01-08-2010 08:10 AM

nice, 12.3 is CTS-V territory. Is yours a Z51?

cambo370z 01-08-2010 09:24 AM

no...it's topped out except that..it's a 3LT with nav package.

Nice!!!!

I could never get near that time with my manual trans, except when it was supercharged. Then again, I've never gotten into drag racing, always been a road course kind of guy.

U both have amazing cars and very impressive time with simple mods!
Will you be n/a or going sc or tt?!
I hope you go tt!

TCS on or off? Did you floor it from the start or gradualy increase throttle? Just wondering as we have a stock 06 3LT and couldn't do as well as we had hoped.

MightyBobo 01-08-2010 01:27 PM

People use TCS at the strip? lol

cambo370z 01-08-2010 10:17 PM

i used competitive driving mode which takes off traction control and you can spin your tires but leaves on active handling so you won't run into the wall...but i did a few runs with TCS and active handling both off and still ran similar times. i had to feather the launch and then floor it..the first 60' is the most important in this car with all the torque...i had about 8 runs in the 12.3's..and a few around 13.1 where i floored to much and it got a little squirly and I had to let off the gas and then floor it the rest of the way.

yeah..i was really surprised at my time..i thought i was gonna hit 12.5 but not a 12.2. there was another c6 owner that had the ls3 with a lot more mods than me..heads/cam and he ran a 12.6..but that was his first run...tricky to launch these beastly cars unless you're running drag tires.

Once you get used to it you can usually determine by the 330' if you should keep going. I got to the point where I could call my 60' times in my Mustang. If they were good I'd keep running but if I felt like I messed it up I would just cut the car off and coast. Needless to say I have quite a few 18s @ 50 mph time slips. :icon18::roflpuke2:

no i was talking about in a 2005 C6 i had af ew years back.. unfortunately it was a 4 speed auto that sucked and i almost ate the wall on a 1/8th mile track once from brake loading it on a cold day... i ran with traction on and it turned out a little more consistant

me and my buddy used to go to the strip alot and he had a LS3 vette for a while then a 08 Z06 and they were both really hard to get off the line sometimes..
