Well it's a little insulting. As some opinions/reviewers have been pointing out, the whole "ready to mod" thing is absolute BS. Toyota dismissed the use of braces in the engine bay (like the Z4 already comes with...) and then starts using them now. Small things like that, that arguably should've been on the original debut car.

With the sales strategy to stay consistent by trying to keep the car interesting with improvements every year, it's almost like everyone should hold their breath for the final edition unless they have the money to make it their own — that'd probably be my position in acquiring a 2020: if I could give zero s***s about a $40-50k car's warranty and throw money at it to fill all those voids immediately.

I get it, doing what they're doing is how they can get around a difficult sales/profit model. The car as it debuted is actually pretty good sans BMW glitches. I guess the effort can be appreciated vs. having absolutely nothing. Just unfortunate this is how a sports car rolls out.

So on page 32 I saw your car lift. Out of curiosity what is the height of your garage ceiling? Looks like a tight fit but doable. I'm wanting a car lift but my garage ceiling isn't very tall

The ceiling of my garage has a stepped height. The inner half is 11 feet tall while the outer section is only 8 feet. The height of 10 feet is enough to clear two short (height wise) cars no taller than the Z or the Supra roof. The roofline of the Z06 is significantly shorter than these two.

The problem is the outer 8-foot section. This is where the car on the lift would need to be parked facing outward so the hood can be located under the shorter ceiling height. The most inner part of the 8-foot section was actually cut out to clear the base of the windshield of the car on the lift. In my case, the parking arrangement is a bit complicated and certain procedures are needed to clear everything; literally a few inches of clearance is needed in multiple points.

Appreciate the info. I'd be stacking my 280z and 300zx which are both currently at factory height (plan to lower in the future). I believe my ceiling is only at 10ft so it will be tight.

Just measure the maximum height of each car (antenna mast usually doesn't count) and play with the numbers.

Saw my first Supra in the flesh the other week, bright yellow. They are pretty rare here in Australia, first because they only released 300 units for year 1 allocation, second because they cost AU$100k (US$70k). For comparison, I got a 2020 370Z (our base Z is the equivalent of the US Sport Touring grade) for around AU$50k (US$35k). Here in Oz a Mustang GT is around AU$70k (US$50k). Cars are expensive here.

Can't say I'm a fan of the Supra's looks TBH. Seemed a bit overstyled and lumpy in the flesh. Can't argue with the performance though, and the tunability of the B58 engine. I'm under no illusions the B58 Supra would leave a stock Z for dead from a dig or a roll.

I know a lot of Aussie 2019 Supra buyers, first year early adopters, are mighty pi$$ed off at Toyota for blowing their resale by releasing a substantially revised and more powerful 2020 model just 1 year after the launch version. Pretty crummy way to treat your most committed early buyers IMO. People bag the 370Z for its lack of updates, but at least that protects early buyers' resale values somewhat.

In any case I wouldn't be buying an A90 Supra for a few years, as it seems they've chosen a drip feed approach where each year's model will receive incremental upgrades. Given that, I'd be inclined to wait for the final edition and get the best version of the car.

I see on the Toyota website they are offering 0% interest and I ‘believe’ $3500 cash back on the 2020’s. Won’t lie - bc of the tunability and I really do like the looks of it - I am kinda wondering if I could finagle a 2020 or what would be a little over $500/mo for 60mo. Not sure if this could happen - it would require the price of the Supra to be dropped below the $50k mark if they honor the $3500 off as well as having 0% for a 60mo loan then this might be doable. But at the same time - looking at doing something like that and having it all work perfectly - as well as trading in a newly PIF vehicle just seems like financial stupidity to say the least.

I think @Red-Hat mentioned it and has the right idea - wait for the final version to have the ‘best’ version of the Supra that they come out. Plus it would allow for the new Z to come out and see how it compares to the Supra. I am hoping that would be a fun review and not wind up being a disappointment.

Long term review of the Supra - nice read. I still am happy to see this new sports-car.
