I'm seeing them more, and more on the street. They definitely look better in person.

Don’t know but seems to me that Toyota could’ve hit it out of the ballpark but all they did is made a better BRZ/86. Too little, too late IMHO.

I've come across a CPO Z06 at right under $60k USD. Apart from GM's shoddy body panel alignment, that is just so much more car for the money.

That being said, if my current budget was in $50-60k, I would be walking into a Toyota dealer just to see if something intangible does change my mind.

The1 Toyota Supra is far from a success. Enthusiasts felt cheated. The car is plagued with BMW recalls. And outside of the sheetmetal, the suspension tune and an ECU remap for throttle, tq hp etc.... Toyota bears no footprint on this car.

The price was probably $7,000 too high for peoples expectations.

The black only interior was disappointing and not to mention the interior is identical to all BMW products.

To add insult to injury. Corvette knocked it out the park with an in house production of a true supercar for about $80k nicely equipped.
Or you can buy a $57k one size fits all supra.

The Z has the potential to eat the Supra alive. But Nissan has to do some revolutionary chassis work!!
Bring the Z chassis to 2020 standards. As well as the appropriate transmission. The supra at best sparked a JDM return, kinda. I think toyota shouldve brought out the RC with a really powerful turbo 6 and called it the supra. I guess this car made no sense to enthusiasts.

It's crazy cuz Texas is a sports car crazy state. We sell half the sports cars in the nation here. But I've yet to see a Supra in the wild. I'd call that a fail.

I saw one on the freeway last week. Wasnt impressed, by its looks anyway.

OptionZero 01-21-2020 12:07 PM

i would need to sit in it to see how i fit

but if it had a manual transmission i'd be looking very, very hard at it

especially after seeing the Varis widebody for it

BlackZeda 01-25-2020 01:50 PM

I saw my first one and it was extremely sexy.

Starting at $50K... same HP as the Z... am I missing something? Would you pay that for this car?

Apparently I did pay much more than $50k for a Launch Edition #244 in Nocturnal Black. While the horsepower number is close to that of the 370Z, torque is a different story.

In my case, the whole deal turned very bitter. The car was bought back by Toyota (i.e. it was a lemon) earlier this week.

It’s funny bc I did see a red one but it still had dealer listed on the license plate which makes me think it wasn’t a customers car. I still like them to be honest.

I think you’ll get a kick out of this since you live in teh DFW area. A salesman was posting a yellow on AT MSRP on the Frisco/Little Elm FB Marketplace - NO catch, totally legit etc etc. which got me thinking - I guess they aren’t selling like I thought they would. It did make me wonder and consider taking a look but couldn’t stomach a $800/mo for a car payment and that is including me trading in my current Z and adding cash.

Did anyone else get a limited edition poster? I was able to request one.

What happened POSVET?, I am super curious.

Lvcky69 01-25-2020 11:18 PM

The Supra looks like a girls car in person. It is so sad. Whenever I see one I say, get a real men car.

It's a long story, basically it has multiple electronic problems involving the Body Domain Controller from the beginning (it would not come out of transport mode). Toyota did not know how to repair the problem and the car sat for months without a clear indication if it could even be repaired.

As the cars age, other types of problems start to show up. Some of them have no clear solution or part availability. The corporate attitude, shown to me by Toyota and Toyota Customer Care (not the selling dealer, they have been great), left a bitter after taste.

It's a great car otherwise, it's the electronics that ruin the car.
