I just really expected more, given the decade and a half that's passed. I get it, the new Supra's 420hp is likely more reliable than the 1993's, and the turbos will last longer at that PSI, blah blah blah, but how would you feel if the 2029 "370Z" made 330whp with bolt-ons and a tune? You'd be calling for Nissan's head on a platter and talking trash 6 ways from Sunday about how they screwed this up beyond your wildest nightmares.

Yeah, I think a lot of people coming from the JDM and Toyota fanbase have no idea about the lineage of the B58, and I'll admit I'm not that familiar myself, apart from it stemming from a long development of the N55, maybe just going sideways with VANOS. Of course it would've been nice to see Toyota show their hand at a performance engine again, but this can't be called a write-off just yet.

That aftermarket manual is something of a game-changer — with depreciated Supra. Not to beat a dead-horse, but Supra at MSRP + this $12k, in the face of what the C8 offers for the money...still a weird one to swallow imo.

I know Toyota went with this engine cuz it's as modifiable as the 2jz. It wasn't a vanity merger. There was a reason for choosing BMW.

It's honestly great that the Supra is showing out to be better than assumed. So far it's surviving anything being thrown at it (albeit in just this short month or so).

Still a weird place to be. If you had to make the most out of your money, still can't be sure if this has made its case. Yet at the same time, the C8 has a major lead time, and literally no driving reviews to date preceding the possible first year flaws, so there is the case that some people are willing to bite on the Supra for being accessible while it keeps showing more promise to hold itself together.

Stock engine can handle 1000hp!!!! Thank you Toyota for saving your base a lot of cash. The window thing really bothers me though. They better invent a kool wind deflector or something? Cuz I drive with windows open!!!

I could be interested at the right price. Honestly it kinda sucks to just see it sit there.
