The rear proportions just don't look right to me, like the hatch is too tall or something.

I'm glad its not making me want to ditch my Nismo.
I dig the look of it but I'm not a bmw fan at all so having the heart be an unreliable motor I'm good. This would have been epic Toyota redesigning a 2jz to become a lower emission 3jz and having a manual option in the states. The car will eventually offer a manual here as they will offer it overseas so it's on the table already. They will just see how sales go. For me a manual is a must. I suspect that engine having a lot of work around to make it handle high boost. I've never heard of 800hp bmws in a frequent sense like say the old supra where 800hp is the norm. The predecessor should never overdo the successor It should be a compliment to the future car.

Too much money for sedan horsepower.
For that money they should be well north of 400hp. A Z is a much better value. As for the looks....the AE86 wins, and honestly, I think I'd rather have one of those....especially at half the price. |

You simply can't get much for under $50K these days. Think about it.....a BASE 911 is over $100K.
I know the supra was intended to compete with Cayman crowd but New Cayman GTS is right at $100K. Not to mention it has a 4 banger with a turbo. I would hope the Supra gets a turbo or 2 like most BMW's. Maybe in a couple years? Get the HP up to 450 area and it would be respectable, I think. Prob bump the price up to $70K mark, damn it. |

I think the crowd where it will sell is with those that want a factory turbo'd car that is simular to the Z. Looking forward to see what the production models end up doing : Performance / Sales wise.

I am settling down in my old age. Bought a KIA Stinger to replace the Z. It is not as good in the curves as the Z but just as fast in a straight line. Plus it can hold 4 people and a lot of cargo. Also got it for 40k.

Horrible. Looks like a really ugly Miata. As far as HP goes...who cares? Unless you are going to track your car. As long as it has enough to be fun in the twisties that's all I care about.

A new Nismo is $45k+ and a dinosaur. The Supra isn't much more and has all the modern niceties while still being a focused sports car. I get that we're on a Z forum, but people on here seem to forget all the cheap **** that Nissan puts into the Z and refuses to update. |

It just makes no sense why their halo car got a motor from a bmw that's moderate power and from a company that makes unreliable engines...
Imagine Nissan having the next GTR using a Mercedes engine... Honestly most of us will change our mind once we see some stances and boosted up the wazoo but without a manual and going in with a bmw engine the stacks against Toyota... Proof is in the pudding, a manual is inevitable to follow if it doesnt flop.
