Yeah it's pretty high up, I have only had to clean mud out of my intake once.
No snorkel, but the video is a little misleading. The driver side never gets deeper than the tire. 6 feet to the right and I would have been swimming. Haven't been on thenewx.org boards for a while. Name there SwissArmyX.

nice!
better than the 86.5 hardbody I had. the VG30 alternator was on the bottom of the engine, and everytime I went mudding, which was every weekend at the time, I had to disassemble, clean and reassemble the alternator.

And that is why I am on my second alternator. At least the first was covered under warranty. I won't be doing much mudding from now on, warranty just expired in November and I like the challenge of trails better.

It's amazing how quickly you can get sucked from one forum to another.
Wanted to make it to Moab last year, but it looks like this year it may actually happen. Already making my check list or wish list is more like it. Shrock skid plates, PRG UCA's, shocks, and it appears CB's are mandatory this year.

before you buy a lift for you X as is, you may want to think about doing a titan swap from the get-go and save a lot of hassle with better results for the same or just barely more money, titan swap is FTW

Right now all I have is spacers up front and the AAL in the rear. Sick and tired of hearing my UCA slap the strut mount when wheeling. Thanks for the info.
I'll check out what is involved in a titan swap.

if you do go that route, i recommend trying to source an M205 (titan/armada) front diff. the r180 that is stock is just not good enough. the 205 is a bolt in tho the half shafts connect differently so you will either need to use titan spindles (which are interchangeable as well) with titan hubs and brakes and wheels, or get the aftermarket shafts that convert the 205 output to the stock xterra hubs. just doing the swap will gain you about 3" of lift in the front due to the extra width and the normal angle of the arms. gives you about 6" of track width up front. the arms bolt in with no modification. PRG sells some tie rod extensions for the steering gear. everything is interchangeable. it's pretty easy to do, you just have to figure out how you want to do it. consequently, aftermarket titan control arms are bolt in as well for more down travel

My wife used to own a 2000 Xterra. All it ever saw was oil changes, and NEVER did it give her any pains. They're v-e-r-y reliable! Some old lady totalled it in 2006, so I got my better ½ a P'finder. So far, so good.
