Will be some crashes if inexperienced people buy these cars.

I'm not getting this car to go green.
In my state that is a bad word.
I live in a state of coal fired power plants and Oil output of a million barrels day.

Just looking at performance.

First off.I love my 370Z twin turbo roadster. The epitome of a classic sports car.

Tesla cars have intrigued me since I drove a Model S P 100 D.Unreal performance.

I like roadsters and Tesla was just not building the car I wanted with performance, styling and price.Tesla started the company with a Roadster.

Went back and forth on this because we have seen prototype but not production car and price is high.

At my age I do not have time to wait for all the electric sports cars we will see introduced in the coming years.

I put 50K down on the base 200k model. The Founders version will be out first at 250k.Prices before options but I do not want a self driving car option. That defeats the whole purpose of buying a sports car.

I have listed this on another post but will list the specs again.

0-60 mph 1.9 seconds.
0-100 mph 4.2 seconds
Quarter 8.8 seconds
Top end above 250 mph
All Wheel Drive
620 mile range on full charge.
7,376 Foot Pounds of Torque
Tesla says the production car will have better specs than this.

When do I get the car?Elon is not that great at meeting deadlines. So I will see.

My insurance agent will be happy.

I will post the good, bad and ugly of this adventure.
I posted update in off topic but thought I would put something here.
Have been e mailing Tesla since January but they are tight lipped.
Founder model which costs more will be out first. This car will have the space X rocket thruster option (As if the car needs to go faster).I ordered the base model which will come next.I hope to get car late 2020.From what I hear;car will surpass specs that are listed.Insurance is going to be high thats if they will insure Roadster.

Rocket thruster option? Will the 2022 model include the nuclear cooling upgrade?

This is how people think Musk will do it.Tesla will use composite over wrapped pressure vessels from space x as trusters. They store and quickly release pressurized air.Ten thrusters will be mounted around car to help excelerate,,help braking and help cornering.

Nifty! How well do they expect the car will perform in zero gravity?

Given Tesla’s inability to meet delivery deadlines or targets in genreral (to say nothing about profitability), I hope this vehicle materializes in the timeframe you are hoping for.

Porsche’s Taycan lineup, with similar timing and priced between Panamera and Cayenne, will hurt Tesla. It needn’t be a death punch, but I don’t know how much more that company can take.

I have zero faith in Tesla, as a company, but OP probably knows all this at least as well as we do, and decided to shoot his shot, so I'm pullin' for 'em!

Tesla has done a poor job of meeting promised deadlines.I think Musk makes deadlines that are not realistic.I would not be surprised to see my car late 2021 or early 2022.

Tesla has a lot of irons in the fire.New crossover.Semi truck production. They are also working on pick up truck.Model S needs a refresh.

Cars can have issues with fit and finish because they are rushing to get them out the door. The model 3 is more complicated to build than it should be.

Tough time to be in car business.Detroit car makers are dumping sedans because they do not sell.People want trucks and SUVs.

Tesla is top heavy with sedans.

The Porsche Taycam would compete against the model S.No competition for the Roadster.Taycam looks nicer to me than S.
Specs on Porsche are nothing special.300 mile range.0-60 3.5 seconds. Model S is faster and has longer range.

What they do make a big deal out of is fast chargeing. They use a 350 volt system to charge. This is great for home but network needs to be built for Porsche. This is faster than Tesla. Both cars will charge to 80% in 30 minutes.
Fast charging wears out batteries faster.

I have never seen an auto maker do so much in such a short time as Tesla. The company will be 15 in July. Most start up car companies fail long before that.

Will get tougher for Tesla as other big money companies get in the game.

Tesla has the advantage in battery technology. They can pack more power into lighter batteries.

Who knows what electric sports car we will see in future.Compition is a good thing.

Maybee we will see a merger?

Tesla would have failed many times over if Musk didn't rob peter to pay paul, with the rest of his ventures. The 4th quarter of 2018 was literally the first time in those 15 years that Tesla posted profits in two quarters, back to back (it only posted a profit for ONE OTHER QUARTER since 2015..., as of Dec 2018). That year their over-all loss was $1B.

I personally hate Tesla and the hype around them, but you, OP, have worked hard, and I respect that and truly hope you get what you want, how you want.

Similar business plan as Amazon.I could never pull trigger on stock as this book seller kept loosing money. They lost money year after year as they where building infosturture.Look at the monster today. You are right about Tesla(Elan Musk)I do not care that much about company but I do want that Roadster.

0ne more note. The car company is named after Nikola Tesla.I have the upmost respect for him.I think Tesla was one of the greatest who every walked the earth.People get Elan Musk,Tesla motors and Nikola Tesla mixed up.

The history books would have you believe Thomas Edison > Nikola Tesla
