Tesla has done a poor job of meeting promised deadlines.I think Musk makes deadlines that are not realistic.I would not be surprised to see my car late 2021 or early 2022.

Tesla has a lot of irons in the fire.New crossover.Semi truck production. They are also working on pick up truck.Model S needs a refresh.

Cars can have issues with fit and finish because they are rushing to get them out the door. The model 3 is more complicated to build than it should be.

Tough time to be in car business.Detroit car makers are dumping sedans because they do not sell.People want trucks and SUVs.

Tesla is top heavy with sedans.

The Porsche Taycam would compete against the model S.No competition for the Roadster.Taycam looks nicer to me than S.
Specs on Porsche are nothing special.300 mile range.0-60 3.5 seconds. Model S is faster and has longer range.

What they do make a big deal out of is fast chargeing. They use a 350 volt system to charge. This is great for home but network needs to be built for Porsche. This is faster than Tesla. Both cars will charge to 80% in 30 minutes.
Fast charging wears out batteries faster.

I have never seen an auto maker do so much in such a short time as Tesla. The company will be 15 in July. Most start up car companies fail long before that.

Will get tougher for Tesla as other big money companies get in the game.

Tesla has the advantage in battery technology. They can pack more power into lighter batteries.

Who knows what electric sports car we will see in future.Compition is a good thing.

Maybee we will see a merger?

Thanks for the detailed reply.
And i do hope to see pix of you in your Roadster. Think it will be a very cool car. Fingers crossed for sooner than we both fear!

I was so excited about this car.

Dealing with Tesla sucks.Never respond to e mails. You can not talk to customer support by phone.Only by e mail or chat.Worst customer service.

I have concerns about Tesla having to restructure debt load.

I decided to cancel order.Have sent form 3 times to Tesla. They say they do not have.I show them copies of the email. You need to resend. In my opinion I would say they make this difficult on purpose. They have a lot of my money they are getting interest off.

Even if the Tesla Roadster turns out to be a great car I will not buy one if I have to deal with their customer support.

Will wait for other automakers to catch up and build a fast roadster.

Tesla now has a new policy on their forum. No longer open to everyone.Only current owners can post.

Really sorry to hear, Baronsmokes.
Having seen some stuff online, I'm not surprised.
Perhaps you got out at a good time - you will get your money back (I suspect thousands won't, when the house of cards comes down), AND, if this is the service you get as a prospective customer, just imagine how they'd treat you AFTER they got ALL of your money. Without a dealer network, you would be one against the machine. Good luck with any warranty issues. Or having fit and finish issues (of which I hear there are lots) addressed.

See what the Porsche product evolves into. Audi and Volvo are impressing with their new electric product. Maserati is hoping to do the same, including with a performance coupe (WARNING about that last one thought - Italian company customer service is as bad or worse than you describe - does not matter if it is cars, bikes, guns or marble!).

We're on the cusp of an electric car revolution as the tech goes critical mass. There will be lots of options coming down the pipeline in the next 3-4 years. You don't HAVE to go to Tesla to get something that isn't a refrigerator on wheels. And I suspect Tesla will fold once mainstream makes with deep pockets bring their offerings to market.

Now, if only the infrastructure to charge these things can keep up!!!

Good luck (with the refund and with the replacement).

Tesla seems to be in disarray right now.Even people who are true Koolaide drinkers are becoming disillusioned.

My friend who has owned Tesla's for years sold his.He loved car but long wait to get repairs done. They did not have parts.

Difficult to deal with customer service.

He paid $140,000 for car and thought service should be better.

He said it was not like this several years ago.
I wish Tesla the best but acting like a Ferrari dealership is not helping.
