If this is true? This means the sports car market is very much alive and people been waiting for something like this...
Meaning, I think theres room for a camaro 7 if they go routes that I've mentioned before. Which was making a corvette style 4 seat camaro with dimensions similar to the camaro 3 but performance like a c7 GS for about 50k.
It could he done. It's up to Chevy though.

A next generation Camaro would have to be a similar paradigm shift to get this kind of sales interest, I'm afraid. Not sure that GM wants to risk that much R&D into two petrol sports cars at this stage. Seems a foolishly risky venture. 40,000 cars is not that huge in the overall scheme of things. They sold 35,000 C7's to North American markets alone, in the first year of production.

...However, I sadly fear this is more accurate.

If there’s a next gen camaro, it’ll have to be hybrid to start with the preplanning done for it to go full electric a few years later on the same chassis. Even with platform sharing, its a big risk with cars losing popularity to cuvs. Can gm have two low volume “halo” sports cars and still make enough $$ to justify both? Even if the camaro would be profitable in the above scenario, it wouldn’t be more profitable than a cuv electric hybrid vehicle and gm has to allocate resources to maximize $$$. (And this is how a similar convo probably went at ford which led to the mustang electric cuv).

C8 Z06 Flat plane crank engine sounds so sick!!!

Now I'm wondering... Should I shoot for a Z06? The Z06 suspension is always pretty amazing as well

I wonder what the cost would be?

Car sounds great at the Rolex 24 of Daytona, completely different sound

Rusty 01-25-2020 10:17 PM

There was an article the other day where the wheels and tires was stolen off a 2020 Vette. The car was sitting 4 miles from GM headquarters in Detroit. The car didn't have a manufacturer licence plate on it. No one knows who owns the Vette. When the newspaper called GM on it. They had no comment. The picture showed a black Vette with no wheels and tires sitting on blocks. :rofl2:

Rusty 02-02-2020 07:28 PM

So much for getting the carbon fiber package. Cancelled.

Maybe it was target advertising for a new niche consumer market for those who like to put vehicles on blocks in their front yards?

A true enthusiast would have never wasted his time writing this trash.

Ventruck 02-17-2020 12:09 AM

Jalopnik and similar sites literally post trash out their ***. I mean I guess us here are forums are suspect to doing the same, but those sites are trying to pass as news sites of sorts.

So much speculation over a a car that hasn't really hit the road yet. It was an exciting reveal, no doubt, though.

UNKNOWN_370 02-20-2020 08:43 AM

Wow.... this car is awesome. Surprised they chose the tires I use as a base tire. The ps3+as are so good. I dont feel the need for a summer tire. And I get an extra 3 months of usage. Lol.

A few of them landed here last week.
I would assume purchasers will take delivery in the next few days.
Looking forward to first person reviews soon.

Let the games begin. Ruin a perfectly good car treating it like a shitebag Camaro and not the sophisticated machine it is lol :)

serial 000001 dropped off in NC just a while ago. Rick Hendrick is the owner.

Hendrick owns and has owned many of the first production vettes and has auctioned them off for charity and then repurchased them

Glad to see they are practicing social distancing (sarcasm), just to get a photo of a car!

Saw a white one Sunday. Followed it to Starbucks, lol. Had passenger window down while the order was placed. I told the pretty young blonde driving it was a gorgeous car. She just picked it up last week. Traded her 2019 ZR1 in for it....

UNKNOWN_370 04-03-2020 08:34 AM

Corvette is already talking 2021 changes.

Good on-track video with a 911 GT3 RS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUjI2jnhSDo

Not saying either driver was brilliant or driving to the car's limit, but it shows that the C8 is no slouch.

On paper, they should be fairly close on track...

The interior is fantastic, reminds me of a modern FD3S cockpit, does look like a fighter jet, I actually like the steering wheel reminds of an F1 steering wheel. C8 kept up with GT3 costing 3x times as much, impressive.

Not sure how hard the Porsche was trying. If he had a GPS onboard he might have found an apex or two! Certainly, he did not appear to use the full effect of the brakes on that car.

The video description made it clear that this was not a race or head-to-head comparison. That said, the Vette performed well, and did not seem to exhibit any issues on track (mechanically or in terms of grip or braking - admittedly, I didn't watch the whole thing - just bits of it). It looked very competent out there, though.

I'm not going to come to any conclusions on this battle until i see someone like Randy Pobst drive both.

I've ran down Z06s, M3s, GTRs, and other stuff on the track, but got the doors blown off by a S2000

^ This.
Preferably a driver who hasn't already made up his mind before hand (or had the people sponsoring the test do it for him).

Ditto on the experiences. I've chased down and passed a GT3-RS, and been lapped by others. You cannot tell unless you know the driver.

Those stealthy well trained drivers in 'slower cars' like a Lotus Elise/S2000 do make others look somewhat 'amateur' at times. Have certainly endured that myself!!

Training is amazing!

Once again, I can't focus on anything except the the steering wheel. The interior could be covered in gold for all I care. The steering wheel reminds me of a giant full diaper from the back.

Is that Mirror digital? I'm still trying to find something that clear for the Z

cossie1600 04-07-2020 02:29 PM

Got this win out here in Daytona, brother. I don't want to hear lip from you European "sports car" snobs. GM is about to take back that GTLM class title in the WT Sports Car Championship. You haven't seen what this middle engine technology can do.

2022 corvette z06

https://youtu.be/dookTwy1rkI

The flat plane crank sounds like a McLaren or Koenigsegg. Krazy!!!

I wonder how much?
This car seems to be getting way more treatments than past Z06's. Must come with a heavy price tag?

UNKNOWN_370 08-19-2020 06:56 PM

Haters gonna Hate! Lol.
The corvette is not being obliterated. But for 60k n/a. Its doing a good job. Let's see what happens with that Zed 06

Interesting figures. Confirms what I expected: the C8 will squash other pony car sales and cut into Porsche sales. I wouldn't be surprised if it also affects McLaren sales.

Truly the democratization of the supercar.

The only downside is that the C8 may lose its luster when becoming more common. Plus there's there's the traditional Corvette enthusiast crowd -- who wear wifebeaters when attending the Saturday Coffee and Cars meet up.
