I can see why they appeal to a certain group. But I'm not part of the demographic.

They are quiet, and have a great launch. But subject to a lot of niggling issues. And when (not "if") Tesla (the company) fails, I don't know who will maintain the cars and the software.

I did a track day where a Model S (not sure anymore but I think P100 not D) attended.
It was a very clever car in terms of torque vectoring and adaptive suspension. The (heavy) car handled tight corners on street tires at speeds I wasn't comfortable taking my 4C with semi-slicks at. But be clear that it was the car, and not the driver that gets the credit. And after 3 x 20-minute sessions he had to disappear for 90 minutes to find a charger, get a fill, and come back for two more sessions and hope he could make it home.

Access to chargers really depends on where you live. People in SoCal won't understand the legitimate concerns that the rest of the world has about range and finding available chargers (let alone superchargers). Certainly, there are other well-served regions, but there is also a lot of blank space on the map of charging stations. That will only get better with time, but also increase the cost of charging your car. The easy and profitable locations have all been built.

If that sounds like the car for you, then go for it.

You could certainly do worse. But I think there are better options out there for the money.
