Ford ST/RS models soon to go extinct.

Though a FWD car is NOT my performance vehicle of choice. Nor is owning a Ford appealing to me, BUT The fact we are even losing family friendly or grocery getter Sports oriented performance cars speaks volumes of what's going on in the enthusiast market. Ford had also claimed they are getting rid of every sedan for crossovers. They plan on introducing ONE brand new sedan and will keep the mustang.

As an enthusiast, to me, this is NOT good news. A major player like Ford making Nissan/Mitsubishi moves puts the sub-premium performance market in SERIOUS jeopardy.

Dude...it's really crap news. I've always been a fan of the ST. Wasn't a bad package straight out the box. The RS was a bit too pricey in my opinion but that thing was pretty damn quick lol. Sucks that another cool ride is taking a plunge. Guess that means bye to the Fiesta also...

UNKNOWN_370 05-01-2018 01:20 PM

The fiesta is going to cease to exist as well as the focus and is going to be replaced with crossovers

*J*ap***V*et* 05-01-2018 01:55 PM

All these damn crossovers!! I blame us...the consumer man. We've basically killed variety lol

Rusty 05-02-2018 11:18 PM

Ford wants to build all of these SUV's and trucks. They are trying to get all the money out of them before the new gas laws hit. Then switch to electric vehicles. That's the way I see it. That's like FCA dropping the 392 for the 426 next year. Lets push what sells the best now. Maximize cash flow. So that we have some later on.

They're trying to get all the money they can before the rules change. They know it's coming and when.

you can get a Focus RS in a great deal now, the left over 2017's are a few thousands under MSRP.

If you don't mind a blown head gasket. Unless you don't mod it and drive it conservatively...

Well, in fairness, that problem seems to have been identified and fixed.
I hope!

The weird part (from what I have read - albeit from dubious sources like Jalopnik, though) is that it did not apply to just a single run of cars or build dates. Was kind of all over the place. At least until they became aware and started to watch for it, I guess.

Of course they (the auto manufacturers) know when its coming. They dictate the rules, regulations and implementation of everything concerning the auto industry!

What I want to say is political. Can't say what I'm thinking on the subject. Let's just say, someone took the blue pill and drank the kool-aide.

I was really impressed with the whole lineup, especially the Fiesta

I can’t believe they are making such a knee-jerk reaction to their cars not selling well. This is exactly what got Ford and Chevy and Dodge in their previous financial woes

Let's build big trucks and suv's. That's was the thinking in the late '70's and '80's. Then all at once. They was left holding their nutsacks, wondering what just happen. Those who don't remember their history are doom to repeat it. But I think they are setting themselves for the future by maximizing today on what sells now. As a consumer. When this turn around happens. We will be left holding onto massive dept from buying all of these big vehicles. And then being forced into buying electric vehicles. And adding even more dept.

Your too fat for *** hugger jeans....

JTM88 05-04-2018 10:39 PM

That sucks, I had a focus ST before the Z. It’s a hell of a package for the price. There’s not much out there with that performance for the price new.

I feel you brother... That's why I kept my comment as basic as possible but... within the comment, like minded people understand. And I feel what you can't say.

Yeah but this time.... We have major players like BMW and Porsche, falling into the pansywagen, making mangina mobiles that don't rev or grunt. So Ford can happily do these things while in their safe space, and get in touch with their feminine side of automobile production. Yes, Ford's blue oval is a blue pill.

StormWhite 05-07-2018 04:13 AM

I had a green Focus RS MK2 and then a Vauxhall VXR8 (Holden Commodore). Both nice cars although the VXR8 was too thirsty.
