We don’t really know much about the production car. And the engine is the heart of any vehicle. Not trying to be sarcastic, but I’m curious. Maybe this isn’t the thread to discuss it in (we have a Supra thread or two). And I agree with your Porsche comments, although if you can afford it, then those cars are truly amazing. It’s typically those (like me) who cannot, who complain about the costs. |

Also, Porsche isn't overrated, it's just expensive. There's a reason they're the sports car benchmark.

i personally would go for the lexus, that will be my next car more than likely. Love the m4 but all i hear is horrible stories. If you dont care about pure performance get the lexus the interior and exterior on them are pretty sweet

Time to move on to something different. Z has been great. Going for something with better fit\finish, comfort and ... oh a naturally aspirated V8. One of the best things about the Z is you don't see one at every corner. Even less with the RC F. 10 more days.

Congrats with the Lexus. It will be a fun car. Hows the automatic gearbox, is it still a CVT in this car or does the car actually rev? ;-)

It's not dual clutch, but definitely not CVT. It has rev match like the Z. But unlike the Z, it has 4 mode and in sport and sport +, it will hold the revs and let you push the car instead of trying to get the highest gear as quick as it can.

I drove one of these at the Lexus Drive and Compare. It’s a fantastic automobile especially with the Torque Vectoring rear end. Since you can’t get a manual transmission on many cars anymore, this would be a top contender if I was in the car market.

At the weights these cars are coming in at... does the performance really matter? Cars have gone from total sports to sporty in a heartbeat. We're back in the early 90's again, just with a couple extra entries to choose from. I feel people like the RC-F cuz it's your only low maintenance choice n cheaper than a M4. 9/10th's of a bimmer? Toyota always gets hyped up like that when they're new. Just like the FRS, remember? The whole world was saying it handles like a Ferrari n everyone drank that kool aid for about a year.
These cars HIDE their weight well but... they still don't give that performance we like. (Except the Alfa... how the eff?) Specialty muscle has been a blessing in this market in terms of performance. But mostly, the market is uninspired past giving you styling, a nice sounding synthesized engine and corners well on your local streets type handling. The supra was supposed to bring back that feeling of total sports in the pkg we love at an attainable price... cuz the 86 sure aint doing it sespite its Ferrari handling reputation. Smh. I say.... if you like the RC-F buy it. It's a good handler on the street just like any other premium vehicle. It will accelerate within range of standard muscle and be much more plush than the competition.

The Lexus is indeed beautiful, and if you're looking for a classy weekender that's got plenty of pep in its step and are less concerned about performance, it's a wonderful choice.
Performance for the dollar goes to the freakin ZL1 though. What a beast for the money. It's absolutely incredible. My wife wants me to get a GT-R, and every time I consider it, I look over at the ZL1 and see a faster (stock for stock) car for less money and maintenance costs. With a manual transmission. And I'm a Nissan fanboy through and through (but far less so lately... they haven't given me anything new to fanboy over in 10 years.)
