An acquaintance at the track last week after only two runs in his 2017 Hyundai Genesis G90 5.0L V8 his 02 sensor failed,cylinder head gasket blew, and poped his engine. Hyundai’s reliability and dependability was always questionable.

While i believe Hyundai's motor should have more durability for sure. Isn't the G90, the equivalent of the equus??? Who goes to track day with an Equus??? I don't think the equus was designed with the type of cooling and reinforcement to run track. I think some people hear V8 and get a lil overzealous.

So both brands are in the top 10 for reliability. When I bought my Z, Nissan ranked #11. Nissan is still #11... Never had a problem with my Z. Yet troll the forums and you will find complaints out the wazoo... Is the Z an unreliable car???

This just rings true...we all know that the vehicle game is evolving into something completely different but it is great to see another company offering something different. At the end of the day the only sports style cars that will be left are Camaros and Mustangs (which I find absolutely nothing wrong with) I like the variety. Realistically what's next for us Nissan fans? The GTR? The newest infiniti...now that's the question we should ask ourselves lol

why does it feel so natural to cringe or feel disgust when I look at Hyundai though. Aside from the fact that my wife bought a new 2013 and it had so many issues, ended up being a "lemon". Bad taste in my mouth maybe.

In my opinion. You had a bad personal experience. So if swayed your faith in hyundai.

But it's easy to have EXTRA dislike for Hyundai as the general population thinks low of Korean manufacturing over Japanese. Despite successful companies like Samsung, LG, HTC, etc... As far as lemons? All cars have lemons. My neighbors BMW is always getting worked on as most of my BMW owning friends. He has more Recalls than Schwarzenegger. Yet BMW has been sold to you as the ultimate driving machine. Its an indoctrinated perception of BMW. The one that put that title on BMW was BMW. Society was kind to BMW and supported this.
Not saying BMW doesn't perform well. But there have been many equal or better, more RELIABLE cars that don't get that label,

Hyundai in the past, had problems finding a suitable transmission pairing in a couple of models. But this was rectified 7 years ago.
Hyundai had iron cast parts in cars. This also was rectified 7 years ago. Hyundai is now capable enough that they can focus on performance. They've only existed 31 years or something like that? No company has come up so fast.

Hyundai uses DCT instead of CVT. That in itself allows me to respect them more than Nissan as a collective whole. This is my subjective opinion. I hate CVT.

Couldn't have said it better myself sir. Hyundai gets a bad rap due to making budget friendly and boring cars throughout the many years of their early development. Things have changed quite a bit for them and they really are trying new and exciting ideas. Check out that Kia Stinger....stupid name but one hell of a car from an "on paper" standpoint. As for the Japanese manufaturers they are mostly moving away from those sports varieties because in truth they really don't sell as well as they once did.
