Nissan setting trends at accepting failure.
https://jalopnik.com/nissan-claims-i...rmu-1821720941
How comfortable is Nissan for 1. Not aggressively refreshing the Z. 2. Not having a Z35 concept 3. Ignored the large cult following of the IDX 4. Overextending the GT-R 5. Not making a true Red Sport. 6. Cancelling the good handling quick juke. 7. Now accepting failure at Le Mans so they can FOCUS on formula E. So Formula E will use the chassis of a Kicks midnight edition Nismo Star wars edition and race against 80's micro machines run by pennies in the back. Nissans sickening slouchery is an abomination to the automotive industry. This was a company with like 7 sports cars in the 90's. Yes the Z34 and GT-R are legendary. Progress like fvckin legends... Bitches!!!

Nissan seems lost right now, do they want to make appliances or fun cars. They can't seem to decide....They needed to make a successor to the 370, give it a TT motor and proper six speed. But no, you can only get the Infinity Q60....which is a nice car....but its a GT car. It should NOT be hard to fit a six speed and new sheet metal....a few tweeks and there ya go, its done. But no....they make Black edition this and that, with some really nice stickers and ugly black wheels......

Seriously, if it weren't for the GTR and 370Z, I wouldn't even 'know' Nissan. |

Bottom line, they became a global player by building cars for enthusiasts as well as making cheap practical cars. However, they now want to make money by largely serving large, stable market segments with low-cost product and shared architecture. The "enthusiast car" reputation has now allowed them to prostitute the term NISMO, but their interest does not appear to extend to actually developing new product in that area. Hell, they can't even fix the CSC issue after how many years. Or address any of the other fatal flaws in any number of their other models. It appears that the company might have fully embraced "failure" as a strategy. |

Best parallel I can think of is the Dallas Cowboys. The difference is Carlos Ghosn was replaced as CEO in April, and we're stuck with Jerry F*ing Jones continuing to flush this once great franchise down the shitter until he dies.

There have been even more failures for Nissan. Remember the once great and proud industry leading SUV, the Pathfinder? Have you seen the current gen. Pathfinders? So sad! Nissan execs need to take some viagra or commit harakiri.

And they continue with defective CVT transmissions. This is not a winning strategy. Not a trustworthy company.

Words like this were spoken in 2011 when these words weren't true but in 2018. Both fortunately for the muscle arena, and unfortunately for JDM, but ugh... The camaro and corvette have feedback, handle way above their price point and have power for days. Mustang in 2018 is a much more serious competitor to the camaro. If toyota added 80hp to the FRS, i dont think the Z would sell more than 100 units a month. Passion for Nissans old philosophy still sells Z's at 5 to 7k plus units a year. When the supra drops. Nissan will see a decline in sales unless the next GTR will start with a base msrp of $65,000 like a vette gs. Nissan has no spine. They lost their edge.

This is hardly a surprise.
Nissan is a business with no allegiance or obligation to the dying sport car market segment. Thank the Great Recession and millennials. Thus, Nissan is going all in with its push toward electric vehicles. Remember, Nissan sells millions and millions of Altimas and light trucks in Asia. The Z is an anachronism. See the North America sales data: Nissan 370Z US car sales figures It's not about edge or desire, but economics. |

Not only Nissan is way behind with their sports cars, the current line up of cars, SUVs and trucks is just mediocre if not worse. I can find at least 2 better alternatives easily for each model. The only one that is attractive to me is the Armada.
