I feel like a lot of Tesla owners are schmucks, and I've heard multiple accounts of how bad it is to work at the company (which ties into how releases get fudged). Not big on how simplified the model line is set, with just an array Model S trims only recently complimented by the 3 and X. And that naming scheme was stupid. The original Roadster got a pass for being a debut model, but stuff sounds mad uninspiring for an automotive product.

...but credit where its due. No one else is doing this. Honda/Toyota/Nissan/BMW and all them probably know how — but bottom line is that they clearly aren't. Maybe they're just working and watching the market more carefully, because it's true that Tesla could fall flat on it's face if the market dips, but that's not stopping them. Musk hasn't half-assed his ambitions and it's great that he's charging to try to make something happen.

I will want an electric supercar when it executes performance superiority, and I hope when the time comes, there's an actual selection apart from like one model.

I think you guys are all out to lunch. Tesla just announced a new semi truck that can recharge its batteries enough to travel 400 miles in 30 minutes.

I agree with Zingston, the new Roadster sounds amazing. Here's a NEW company debuting amazing projects soon to be released. They are definitely heading in the right direction.

How can you possibly say a car that can do 0 to 60 miles in 1.9 seconds sounds boring? I think the style's looking pretty good too.

What's it weigh?
The battery pack for Roadster is twice the S 100D, which is 1,200 lbs.
so, by the time you add motors and chassis, we might be talking GT-R weight.
Not what I'd think of in a roadster. So, much like the other models by Tesla, it might be a rolling iPad with one trick. It's a clever trick, and probably a clever car. But it isn't as amazing as ol' Elon would like to snow us into believing.

The timing of the announcement is no doubt an attempt to stabilize share prices which were falling in light of the Model 3 fiasco. Hmmm, changing the subject to divert attention from a train wreck. Where have I seen that strategy employed before recently?

Tesla doesn't need another low volume product. They also don't need a heavy truck. They need the Model 3 to be a resounding success. But being satisfied with that wouldn't be Musk's style. Never will be.

They don't need a heavy truck? Sounds like they're going to be cheaper to run than existing diesel semis, leave a smaller environmental footprint, and include new safety features that prevent cab jackknifing.

Sounds like there's a bit of bias towards "Musk's style" and company direction. Time will tell I suppose.

Notice how many other big automakers build heavy transports? So it must be a good fit, right?

Musk does not live in the real world. Real commercial trucks have to. Fine to use them for the "last mile" industry, but take one of those across the Rockies and ... oh, wait, it won't make the grades, so forget it. Haul freight across the midwest with it, except that transports only make money when they are rolling, and this one is going to be doing a lot of stopping.

I just don't see a path to profitability for the business. So far, he's proven me right. But he has managed to convince governments and investors otherwise. History will either record him as one of the greatest innovators of the early 21st century, or one of its best con artists. For me, the jury is still out.

Toyota owns about 30% of Tesla. Musk is one helll of a salesman. He has sold bullsh!t to our gov't and gotten loans for it. He doesn't have a good track record of delivering the goods when needed. The sports car to to draw your attention away from his other problems. He just laid off over 800 people at the car factory. He's got problems with his rockets. The problems with his other cars. He's hiding stuff from customers. Like the up dates he did to the cars that was close to the California fires. That few know about to extend their range.

The semi, I believe is not going to be a big hit. Long haul truckers get over 150,000 miles on them before they even start to think about major maintenance. Seen semi's for sell that had over 500,000 miles on them. And less then 6 years old. Don't think that Musk's semi will get close to that.

The sports car is like a concept car. Be lucky to see one on the street. The guy has a brain on him. IF he ever gets his sh!t together. Look out!

This is the kind of $hit that hybrid and electric car makers would love you to believe. But look into the manufacturing and disposal of the batteries, which they don't take into account when they make a claim such as this, and you'll see just how horrific that industry actually is to the environment...

The new Roadster and Semi are undoubtedly cool. They're also just diversions

So yet another model they will take deposits on and never build. Add the big rig too. Elon is glad to take those deposits though. I really don’t know why Wall Street lets this sham keep going. No way is he going to make his production promises.
