a car with less horsepower, more mass, skinnier wheels and tires, weaker brakes and ancient suspension would blow the door off a more powerful lighter car with better wheels tires brakes and a modern advanced track tuned suspension. yep, makes lots of sense
You do realize we are talking about the 5.0L Mustang here right?
It has more power and torque than the Z.
The 2011 will have a BBK, finally.
Larger wheels and tires, which I believe come with the BBK option.
Again, the only thing the Mustang does that you do not like is the solid rear axle which while not ideal has proven to do very well in road racing, auto-x, drifting, and of course straight line.

Honestly.. the Stang should have had more power than the Z the whole time! The new Stang will not handle better than the Z still. Thus, the Z is still the handler while the Stang will be the straightliner. The more things change, the more they stay the same....

Can't wait to see the new Bullitt!!!
makes sense. though if i absolutely had to choose, i'd rather take the camaro. looks a bit better, and doesn't have a suspension from the beginning of last century.

Yet you talk about the Mustang being a bad road course vehicle and the Camaro has worse results than the Mustang. The only test the Camaro won on was the straight line race, which it one by less than .1 second against the Mustang.

considering that the 2011 mustang doesn't even exist yet, it's premature to draw any conclusions about its performance, making dad's statement nonsense. It looks like it may be faster in a straight line than the z. On a track, its not so clear. regardless, the car hasn't even been manufactured yet, so one cannot logically and confidently make any claim regarding its performance. now the mustang that does exist, the 2009 and 2010 MY cars are SLOWER in every manner including a straight line than the Z despite having a bigger engine with more displacement. Quite pathetic really considering the entire raison d'etre for mustangs and "muscle" cars in general is supposed to be incredible straight line speed

Jesus christ, you're as bad as all the muscle car morons calling any car with the logo of an Asian company a rice-mobile. Except, you're just the opposite. You obviously have no first hand experience in the racing department, so you aren't even using your ever-so-amazing IRS to a limit that a live axle couldn't compete with in the first place.

obviously if i had to buy a muscle car it would not be for road course perofrmance, since none of them is very good at it. being the best out of a bunch of crap performers still makes you a crap performer. obviously while the camaro has a theoretically superior suspension setup it hasnt been tuned properly by gm compared to ford's tuning of the live axle. still i'll take the camaro just to avoid the stigma of having a solid axle suspension

why does everyone turn a thread that is supposed to be about certain cars into a debate about my driving skill? how is that relevant? its a sure sign of intellectual bankruptcy, and lack of good arguement.

of course i haven't raced yet. i just go the car in july and when the break in period was done it was already winter. still waiting for summer to go and on the track

Its relevant because you're thumbing your nose about "ancient" technology, except that you aren't even pushing your newer technology to a point that the old **** couldn't handle also. You probably putt around town, go to work and go golfing - how could a live axle NOT meet those requirements?

The argument is perfectly relevant, because it shows your complete ignorance. MANY people have successfully raced live axle cars.
