It will be very interesting to see if the aftermarket goes after that 2.0T in the G70, because then we would have a RWD premium sedan with a manual transmission and LSD with brembo brakes available with tuning potential that could get the car to outperform the stock V6.

A grand slam would be the manual transmission with the V6... maybe they'll do it. I would love to try one out in the 2.0 either way to see how it drives.

All inclusive lease makes the G70 and other models super competitive.

Alfa n Hyundai took huge risks in the lame, one sided, mind controlled, immunized, fluoridated and GMO'd American drone market and tried to give us what we ask for that we always later push away.

Americans wanted the GTR. It's not doing well vs it's pre entry demand. They wanted the euro spec focus, after years of crying, they didn't buy it, now it's gone. They wanted Alfa a to come back. Now that they're here all they talk is unreliability. The car hasn't been on American soil long enough to even know if it's reliable. What do u expect from the only nation pushing for 26 genders as a national standard so aggressively? Smh. Can u imagine, 26 restrooms at the movie theater?

Our car market and everything else has been ruined by pansies.

Lets be fair, the GTR costs more than its competitors in some cases, and the Focus was a ticking timebomb. Also, the initial service costs and warranty voiding issues with the GTR soured many.

Me too... My preference is the Giulia. But it would be interesting to see how close the genesis has come. The stinger is heavier and longer. So the G70 has to be the competitor. My curiosity lies more in handling than equal performance.

Wouldn't touch Alfa with a 10ft pole owned by someone else. I value reliability above all else, at least to the extent that the car isn't a flaming POS, which Alfas are.

Why are you quoting my comment to make a point with no correlation AT ALL to my comment?

This has been piquing my interest as a possible lease car.

The only thing is I'm totally counting on a CPO to come with massive Hyundai/Genesis depreciation. That, and a future gen HUD has already leaked. The G70 at the moment seems to be like a build of things that have worked (kinda like how our Z started), but not necessarily keeping up with the times.

Like I have faith it's a good car unless we see unreliability reports kick up. It looks like a good deal at retail, but that likelihood of considerable depreciation makes it sound like anyone buying new is just consciously overpaying.

I think you're absolutely right. But this is true of Mercedes BMW. Audi etc. All of them depreciate faster than you can whistle Dixie. This is why leasing is the #1 way luxury cars are purchased.

Genesis gave the G70 manual KNOWING It was no business case.

That's amazing. It's good to see Hyundai have some balls. While JDM remains shook to put out what the enthusiasts want!!!

Local dealer is offering $249/month lease (likely before tax), $4k down.

Tried calling in, because it's a bit of a drive. I'm assuming it's only for a 2.0 auto, base package.

I can only go manual 2.0, or else 3.3. Been juggling this idea of having a practical car, and getting a used C7 end of the year in addition to keeping the Z (no family/responsibility, yolo, etc). If I could get an out-the-door rate under $300 with one of those packages, I might just do the G70.

Seriously guys, the G70 looks even better than the stinger. Addresses the quality issues some state. Is directly competitive to a 340i or Q50.
Has features like LAUNCH CONTROL on every model. And is just a handsome package.

The Genesis brand is hitting the mark thus far. Hyundai has overcome huge feats in design and performance in 8 years. And the 5 years before that they proved their reliability. Sure they've had some rattles and the AISIN transmission had issues. But they went in house and fixed those issues. I think that's amazing!!!

Just when they are getting their performance edge. This is what their. CEO predicts...

So basically, he's telling the world gas engine performance is almost obsolete and heritage will mean nothing shortly.

Not a way to sell your brand new performance cars are on sport oriented chassis.

No N division due to electric performance??? Only if we could all support Ferrari who refuses to make electric cars.

G70 is nice sport sedan.Get it with all wheel drive.I think build quality is very good.

For me I like the full size G90.

Ferrari is working on Electric car.

Tried out the 2.0. Kinda have to level my expectations with the motor. It does the job. Maybe if it was a manual I'd like it more. Even then, like I have the Z. I don't see performance as a key investment of the G70. Just something that has 4 doors and gets around in a comfortable/refined-feeling package.

Steering/handling felt nicely tight.
Brakes and Throttle had no play/lag.
Interior ergonomics were really nice.

Pricing wasn't there as those base models or whatever qualified were off the lot already. I feel like the car overall was just put together in a very correct and nice way, but not really approached blowing my mind. Wasn't offered anything as nice as the people posting on the Genesis forum. They're calling out better deals even before Circle-A incentives.

https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news...dan-refresh%2F

This is a simple yet AMAZINGLY done refresh on the Genesis G70.
Hyundai has had more to prove than any other company.
Even when they started putting out good cars 14 yrs ago. They couldn't shake that stigma. Then the Kia, stinger, and G70, finally put the nail in that coffin. Hyundai Corp are now the ones to beat. And this refresh design says it all.
Giulia being the best handling and the G70 right in between the Giulia and the quadrifoglio. Id love to see an N type of handling package for this car. Maybe with a 20hp boost to boot?
