280Z information wanted

Good luck. Take your time and don't buy the first one you see. Rust free as much as possible is what you are looking for. Nothing missing.

Any websites you guys know of for parts for the 280? I also see that the kit that I was interested in which is the rocket bunny kit says it's only for a 240? Are the 2 bodies similar enough for this to work with either model? Or maybe I can find other options from some sites you guys might know of...thanks a bunch everyone

Noop, bumpers and lights are different. You can swap over to the small 240 bumpers but it won't line up perfectly.

I've got a 280z that I've had since I was 18 (currently 35). Ask me anything and I'll try to help

Yes the body of the 240z/260z/280z is the exact same. What makes the exterior different is the bumpers and a few badging/vents type pieces. Due to the bumpers being different mounting holes on the body will be different. But the car is virtually the same when it comes to the sheet metal. The 280z does have some safety beams in the doors that the 240z and 260z didn't have but you can't see those.

I originally wanted a 240z but when I was 18 I couldn't afford the 4k+ price they were commanding (now they are much more) so I opted for a cheaper 280z. In the end it really doesn't matter. People will say the 240z weights less but they forget the fact that once you put in the bigger motor, tranny, rear diff that the weight goes up and is on par with a 280z that undergoes simple weight reduction like losing the bumpers.

I have now heard a couple people say that the bodies are exactly the same except for the bumpers which means there's a definite chance of the rocket bunny kit fitting...

My real problem or issue here now that I think even more into it is this...I already have a 370z Nismo which is essentially already my hot rod and cruiser...getting another z would be difficult I think to drive both of them enough to make it worth owning them both...can't drive both at the same time!! I could see if I just had your average everyday daily driver but I don't so now I guess it's all up to me to decide if it's worth getting another z...not only that but like I said I really like the aggressive looking mods so just the exterior is gonna be like 8k including rims, kit, tires, and paint and that's not even counting a dam thing with the engine like I said lol little impractical and spendy to have both cars I think...but like I said I have some stuff to think about...thanks again for all the advice and opinions and help

It does get hard. I have my Vette as my DD. So I have to make sure that every 2-3 weeks I take both my 280z and 300zx out for a spin if I haven't done so already. No way I would leave my 280z or 300zx parked outside all day as these old cars are so easy to steal. Especially the 280z. For example, did you know just about any key or flat device will open the rear hatch?? Scary.

anyway, yeah, having several nice cars does mean more work making sure your always upkeeping them. That means driving them too.
