Honda Civic Type R
Not sure if this has been posted here already in an older thread, but final production details are now available for this vehicle.
What are your thoughts: Honda Civic Type R |
Looks pretty flippin' awesome.
|
It's a Honda, so it has that going for it. I'll wait for the Supra...
|
I hear there is already a big giant fart can exhaust for it and an AIM intake.

rumored around $40k
Ill be honest, no civic is worth that. No matter how neat it looks. |
I dont care how fast it is, it could break physics. Look at it. Im literally laughing. What grown man can drive that in public? Plus, its wrong wheel drive.
|
Is it awd? Da issue I have with my fwd rocket aka GTI is dat I can't put dat power down.
Yes, very fast on expressway passes but off da line too much wheel spin |
Another reason why I'd get the RS or even da GolfR if buying hatch

I'm sure they'll be a Z vs type R video soon!!! The car is growing on me..I have a 2016 Civic as a DD..I like it so far...Can't be any dumber looking than what people do to any other car, including the Z.. Some peeps make the Z look like a POS.. So whateva... Different strokes for different folks.. I guarantee peeps on other sport car threads look down at the Z...so don't be so stuck up. meaning some of the comments on looks and whatever else.. Definitely one of the most talked about cars at Geneva this year..Lol

Honda Civic Type R
C'mon guys. Read this article and others instead of just commenting.
The technology in this thing is pretty hardcore. Looks are personal choice. If we're going to be car guys, isn't it best to actually read about it instead of assuming? Honda has always had some pretty solid cars and this one is no exception. This reminds me of nine years ago when everyone was hating the 370???? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
40K OTD for a civic seems to be high in my opinion.

Honda Civic Type R
I have no problem with being a fan boy. I love my Z.
Lack of information on the other hand... It's amazing that living in the information age how little information is actually read. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Am I the only one that loves it?

40k can get you so many cars out there on used and new market.... when a base WRX is 25k and sti is 33k |

I am not a hater but IMO civic is a civic

Why not use the AWD drivetrain from the Pilot or MDX in the Civic? 40k plus dealer markup for FWD no longer cuts it. As Focus RS or STi or Golf R can be had for 40k and you get AWD and more power in some cases. I had a 98 Type R number 313 and it was great at 23k or so that it cost. Adjusted for inflation that's about 30k or so now.

best just use the SH-awd assist. at least put da power down off da line. but no, too expensive. |
So it looks likes the Type-R set a new front wheel drive lap record at the Nurburgring; besting the previous record by three seconds. Lap time of 7:43.80.
Looks interesting again - more info / video can be found here. |
wat does the 370Z do for da same lap?
|
Was just going to post the same thing re Ring time, chopin_guy 88
When you look at the number of serious cars this beats handily, you can't dismiss it. Zeperfs duel Nismo 370Z vs Civic Type R: http://www.zeperfs.com/en/duel4693-6700.htm Not much data yet, though. |
My D D is a Civic Si. I really like this car. Many reasons.
I already told them at the dealer that if they get a white one (pretty much same color scheme as our Nismo) not to call me, especially with some sort of deal to offer. I like my Si, don't need two fast white and red cars in the garage, and yeah it's way hard to sneak around in. And I really don't need the temptation. Sure hope it comes as a coupe. A four door just seems wrong. And those very big fake grills on all four corners are just plain awful looking. But still, this thing would be a blast to drive once your reflexes catch up to that much power torque steer. |

For perspective, that is currently the 64th fastest lap for a production car. 0.8 seconds slower than a Porsche 911 GT3RS which costs US$175,000 before options!!! The car in 65th place? A Pagani Zonda! What do you think of the ricer Honda now??? ;-) |

I hope honda comes back up and pumps out some enthutiast cars, the days of oddysey mini vans are numbered. |
Type R is really awesome...the problem is that the "me first" crowd are going to come running in with check books out and then simple supply and demand will occur...higher demand then supply = dealers increase MSRP above 40k to probably 45 to 50k. I cant really see myself spending 40 to 50k when there are so many awesome sports cars in that price range that you can buy used like the CLA45AMG, CTSV, Corvette, M3 for that amount...its stupid. Especially when their are so many awesome cars below that price range like the 370z, EVO, WRX sti, Ford Focus RS which are all just as good as the Civic. However, I would be all over it for 30k ...so I will wait and in a couple of years I will buy it used for around 28-30k ..which is honestly where it should be ..

I've owned an ap2 s2000, fb6 Si - so I am aware of how fun and good of cars honda makes, but I just don't see how the price tag is justified on a FWD civic, albeit with 300hp. The entrance point for this car NEW should have been right around what the base WRX sells for, i.e. 25 bare bones, 30k fully optioned, AT BEST. I don't think you have to wait that long to pick up a used one, after the initial surge, they will be sitting on dealer lots and will eventually be marked down just to move them, they underestimated the competitive nature of the segment. |
The new Civic Type R is an awesome performer given its price tag of mid 30k's. The cars you listed used are not as practical as the type r and will have comparable performance numbers to those cars you listed, heck look at the nurburing time! I would take this over the ford focus rs any day. Honda reliability and the exclusivity of the Type R name.
