I am not going to lie. I really want the Stinger GT. Don't get my wrong, I still love my Z but manual tranny in LA traffic has taken its toll on me. If I were to total my Z today, I would walk out of KIA stealership with the new Stinger GT tomorrow. Very impressed and pleased with KIA stepping up there game. Japanese should be worried.

I certainly hope this car drives straight. Prior to the G, bought a 2011 kia optima sx (2.0 turbo). What I thought was just an insignificant alignment issue turned into a nightmare. The car was in the shop at least half a dozen times for alignments, tire rotations/changes, etc. The car would just not drive in a straight line. It would drift, requiring constant corrections. I was so fed up with this, took a loss and got rid of it 2 months later.
Sorry, no kias or hyundais for me any more.

Interesting topic,this Stinger.
I had an opportunity to drive a Kia Stinger last week. The model was was not actually for sale. A promo to get orders for incoming inventory. Could be that I own as part of my vehicles,a Kia Soul. The Soul is a great little MPV. That is what I use it for. After 36k miles,no problems at all.You can drop the rear seats, haul stuff etc. A WELL below 20k vehicle. It is what it is... The major problem I see with Kia selling the Stinger is much the same as the SLOW selling Credenza. Perception. The general public does not want to pay a price well into the upper 30k territory for a Kia. The top of the line dual turbo Stinger is gonna hit near 50k with all the bells&whistles. Gotta add in the awful resale value for the average Kia. The Soul's is pretty good. It's got to be a hard sell or,will take awhile. Market perception is hard to change. I owned a 70's model Audi 5000. Big problems with Audi's Took decades to get them back to the current top . But,Audi is German. Kia and other Korean cars are just finding their way. I'd stay away from the Stinger. |

You are also forgetting resale value European cars hold much better value than an kia/Hyundai. In fact, my cousin just recently purchased a pre owned 2015 genesis g90 v8 420hp version for almost half the price with only 5k miles. If you are interested in the stinger I would wait a couple of years.

Since this is a Nissan/Z forum, don't know why we are talking in length about
a Kia model. Saying that,I'll add a few more comments. As I do also own a Kia(Soul),yes-Hyundai is part of the Korean family linked with Kia. In fact, they share many parts. A bit like Nissan and Infiniti. I'm a bit confused on why Kia is upping their game into a more performance car. You see,Hyundai was positioned as the upper brand with more luxury and horsepower. Kia,a bit like the Chevy of old. Meat&potatoes brand. Furthermore, all Kia dealerships I have seen are a joke. The staff should be on a low end used car lot. They know nothing about the details of the cars much less attempting to sell a model that has a BMW and others in the cross hairs. But hey,I bought an original 350Z in 2002. I visited 6 Nissan dealerships until I found #7 that really new anything about the car. And,that was the sales manager for the dealership. Maybe Kia will learn to catch up? Right now IMO,doubtful. |

Saw the new STINGER on the road in a red very similar to passion red. It's a beautiful car. I was totally impressed. Rrom a distance is nicer than say a Q50 and I think the 50 is a beautiful car. The Giulia quadrifoglio is still my favorite sedan but Kia really brought it with this one.

That Stinger is something quite impressive. I hate the name however lol. I won't say Nissan has dropped the ball but are going in the same direction most other manufacturers are heading towards. Kia just wants to stay ahead of the curve and I'm glad to see someone doing something besides rhe big American 3.

I have a friend that owns two hyundai cars. Same car as far as I'm concerned. The dealerships screw him every time he has to take it in for problems and service. That 100,000 mile warranty has some fine print. He even had to pay for a leaking turbo oil line that the crap warrantee would not cover.
His two cars make all kinds of weird sounds going down the road and they drive like crap at only 50k miles. My wifes 2011 4runner with over 100,000 miles drives like the day we bought it new and has never had an issue. Korean cars suck just like they did back in the 80s.People see so many of them on the road and just assume they must make good cars. I'm sure the "stinger" will live up to it's name.

Quite simply, if you're going to live your life complaining that other cars that are now faster than yours, than you are going to be disappointed for the rest of your life regardless of what car you buy. Eventually whatever you buy is going to be beat by something else.
If the only reason you bought the Z was because it was the fastest for its price at the time than you are doing it wrong, you shouldn't be owning cars, leasing might be a good option for you. Not everyone buys cars for the same reason otherwise the Z wouldn't still be selling now, i bought mine recently and there were a TON of other cars i could of bought but the only car i wanted was the Z and I prefer my Z anyday over anything else, i love its heritage, the timeless curves, i just love driving the car, because its the car i wanted, the car i chose to spend my money on. At the end of the day you need to find what it is you are personally like, and when you find that car, other cars wont matter because your car will trump anything else. Also, I saw the kia stinger recently and imo it looks like an average sedan. Last edited by Asus_; 04-22-2018 at 02:26 PM. |

I don't believe that's what Unknown is saying. He is simply stating that other manufacturers that were once considered crap are giving their Japanese rivals a big run for the money. And in reality the Stinger will also only appeal to a specific demographic but that's no different than a Z, Corvette, Gen Coupe etcetera. He is expressing that the sports car movement from Japan is becoming sort of stale. So Korea has taken the reigns and is doing something different instead of just Chevrolet or Ford. We all love our cars for different reasons but realistically what's next? The 390z? The 400? Or just get a GTR.
