dey need to keep the car basic as possible but refined.. otherwise u just loose dat fun factor in cars.

subaru did the current STI right. using old technology but refined. thing is so fun to drive it is crazy to see it's a family sedan. fast responding and precise throttle, very nice short throw with close ratio gear box dat don't force u out of da gate while cold, hydraulic pump steering, ability to tune ur center diff for different driving bias/dynamics, good brakes. sounds perfect too imo, right out of da box. everything dat makes a car fun to drive. plus nice suede like alcantara seats and all. thing is downright awesome for only $40K+. it could use another 50hp, but with sub-5 sec to 60, its plenty for me.

370Z is kinda tricky to drive cause so much slop. Nissan just needs to refine dat, lighten da car, and give the next Z dat 400hp tt engine, give it a little retro look at $40K and walla..
+1 on the STi analysis. Name a car with those attributes that is as fun to drive or better.....wait.....wait....there is not a single car because they have lost everything listed that works that is found in the STi. Maybe a 4C because its sans power steering and all, but lacks the utility of the STi. The car world, much like electric steering, is numb....cars are numb and sooner rather than later, we can all sit back and become more numb, as the things drive us around and we stare at electronics we are obsessed with....sad.

Why would you trade a 2 seat coupe for a sedan unless you're having a baby?

I love how you guys make the comparisons that don't make any sense to feel better about your purchases. You sound like EVERYBODY on here who floated to a mustang in 2011. The real competition is the maxima. Let's peep those stats for a second....

Nissan Maxima

HP. 300

Torque 261

Power train. 3.5 litre normally aspirated v6

Drive train. FWD

Transmission. 0 speed CVT

0-60. 5.9 seconds.

Sound system. 11 speaker unadvertised wattage.

Kia Stinger GT

HP. 365HP

Torque 376

Powertrain 3.3 twin turbo v6

Drive train RWD/FWD

Transmission 8 speed automatic w paddle shift

0-60. 5.1 estimated.

Sound system Harmon Kardon 15 speaker 720 watts

Now which one is the drivers car on paper? On top of that you can't tune 90HP out of it for $2,500 or less like most turbos. How much is it gonna cost us for 90HP.

I love my Z. It's a different n special car. But it's falling behind n I am not willing to lie to myself about the brand to feel better about my purchase. I can go out and buy a Z06 cash. So I have the option of having something else. What I want is a competitive Z done EXACTLY the way Kenchan explained what the Z needs to be.

As far as build quality. Well Hyundai is our quality competition.

Genesis outclasses infiniti quality to price so I think Kia isn't doing too bad considering.

Yes - sorry about that - you're absolutely right that I wasn't comparing eggs with eggs. The Stinger and the Z are not to be compared.

I still think it looks crap and plasticky though - just like the Toyota GT86 looks okay until you get close to it.

...and just a small correction, if I may - I'm not trying to make myself 'feel better' about my purchase. I've owned Z's since 2004, even tried a 2014 BMW M car and come back to the Z because I love it. I don't need to make myself feel better - I feel quite nice as it is, thank you - and have done for 12 years.

Finally, thank you for the 'fanboy' tag. At 64 it's the nicest compliment I've had for years

Ive said it before and Ill say it again, Ive owned lots of Z's. Loved them all-for the most part. The 370Z is no doubt a better Sports car than any CURRENT flavor of Kia/Hyundai. Its simply flat out sharper, better, quicker, tighter in pretty much every metric. However, in my humble opinion, not by too much. Added to the fact it was considerably more expensive than my current ride with frankly nothing else. No leather, no moonroof, no Bluetooth, no nav, no smart phone interface. Rather jarring ride, kind of a crappy clutch, so so mpg with 93 octane ONLY. The Z34 is still in 2010. Thats why I only had it for 10 months. Its not like I was at the track every other weekend to enjoy the performance advantage it had, albeit slight. So in heavy south Florida stop and go traffic as a daily it pretty much sucked. I have no doubt WHEN Nissan introduces the Z35 it will be remarkable. They always are. But as of right now....the Z is just a dinosaur. The only brand loyalty I have is from a product that offers ME the best bang for MY buck.

  • NISMO gets 6-Piston front/4-Piston Rear Sport Brakes - All other Zs get the existing 4-Piston front 2-Piston rear brakes. Crappy 2-piston "postage stamp" brakes from the Rouge are an embarrassment for the Z.
  • NISMO gets Turbo, Engine Oil Cooler Standard, 450 HP or better with whatever suspension options needed to make the most of the additional power *and* a Twin-Clutch Transmission as a option - All other Zs 400 HP N/A and Twin-Clutch Transmission as an option.
  • Recaro Seats stay with the NISMO. All other Zs lose the Family Values with the Ducalax Headrests seats. Replace them with ones similar in design to those in the GTR (no more heated seat options in the Z Nissan, please. It's a sports car not an SUV).
  • And for God's sake, update the Tech Package will ya'? The screen looks like something out of an old Playstation. License Garmin for the navigation system.
  • Can we do better than Bose for a premier audio system?

Just my personal wish-list for making the Z better/more exciting off the showroom floor...

Unless the Nismo gets over 500HP, I'm not sure we need more pistons. But they should improve on the current design to facilitate better cooling and function. Maybe a ceramic option would be nice but would you pay the extra $10,000 for a ceramic brake kit??? We don't have the Rouge brakes. The rouge had our brakes....

The Z should follow the Q60 heirachy of engines but keep the analog function of the Z34....

Anyway this top should be continued in the appropriate thread.

http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...t-new-z35.html

BACK ON TOPIC

A lot of people run the same status quo comments about Hyundai Kia like its still 1994. I will reserve my final opinions till I see the car.

Case and point.
Everyone hated the Q60 in pictures. Then they saw it in person. Opinions changed that quick. But the original opinion as stated was said in an unwavering negative way. People just wanted to hate the Q.

I personally gotta wait to hear a review and get all the info. Same with the sentra. People hated the Nismo sentra and they were right. But me personally. Until it's been driven by trusted reviewers. Or I don't see it in person. My opinion is very general....

How can I call something cheap or plasticky if I never sat in one....??? Maybe Kia has a history. Maybe pics show plastic? But till I sit in it n touch it.... I can't base my opinion on any facts...

Just sayin.

The GC was a good car. A 2800b 2.0L 315HP stinger coupe will be a better one.

Here's a gencoupe one take. It's a nicely done car with an amazing stock exhaust. That's what I noticed first in my test drives of the GC.

Looks like another pig with lip stick on. As a 2 month kia optima sx owner 6 years ago I swore I'd never consider another kia/hyundai product. That's still the case today.

I remember taking a genesis coupe for a test drive a few years ago. Something was bound up in the rear end. Every thing the weight shifted there was this nasty clunk. How that passed PDI is beyond me.

Well, again, I imagine even a Bentley has a lemon or two over the years. Ive had nothing but trouble free cruising, knock on wood. I beat it up too. All the folks I know with kia/Hyundai are problem free too.

Wasn't there a recall or class action lawsuit filed for catastrophic failure in the 2.0 turbo engines .

Hyundai Sonata Engine Failures Prompt Recall - Consumer Reports

My main issue with the car was faulty front end geometry. The car refused to track straight, even after countless alignments, wheel/tire swaps, etc. This issue was shared by the sonata of similar vintage as well.

Toyota has had more recalls and CATASTROPHIES than any other car brand. But I guarantee all of you will strongly consider a Supra when it comes out....
