FRS / BRZ or 370z ?
Ok everyone need some help here, my little brother is in the market for his first sports car. He wants a 370z like his big brother has, this is where I have been thinking. My lil bro is 19 and has a steady job at a local Nissan dealer. He's looking at a Z at his dealer it's 2010 Sport with Tech 7 AT for 13k but it has 100,000 miles.
I think it's great that he wants a Z like his big bro, but I've been doing some thinking. For one the Z is expensive to mod unlike a lot of other cars. I know my brother and he wants to mod the crap out of it and wants boost but his pockets aren't deep and don't want him to be disappointed. So I though the BRZ or FRS might be a good match for him. A lot cheaper to mod and cheaper to fix if he brakes it. What's everyone's thoughts BRZ / FRS? 370z? |
Go to this forum and ask about Z vs brz? It's hands down Z. Go to the dark side and ask the same it'll be the Subaru clone.

How about a 350z?

One other thing. I would also ask a cop and see what he (or she) says.

I think someone doesn't want the little bro one up him with a sexier car ;)
Those seats looked beat! What are those tears at the bottom of the seat? |

1) he will push him self in the car past his driving ability. 2) he wants mods and does not have the money to mod the z. The money he has and makes would go further with another vehicle when it comes to mods |
I was only kidding bro...I agree with your concerns. Aftermarket parts for our cars are not cheap but if your bro goes with an frs/brz all those mods will add up overtime and he still wouldn't be satisfied.
|
LOL. PW FTW. If he decides on this, no kidding I will detail it for free. He has to drive to CA though.
Those seats though. It is beat up and took its toll with some big a$$ crash landing on it daily. There were only 37 of that 2010 PW, Auto, Persimmon Interior, Sport combo made for that year. Not a whole lot of those out there. Mileage is not an issue with an 7AT. At $13k, it is not bad. Forget the mods because he will need to pay for upkeep, gas, insurance, tires, anything that brakes, etc. aside from driver responsibilities, he will need to keep up with his financials. This car ain't cheap. If it is just about the car and not about financials, I'd still say the Z. Attractive to a many, young and old. He will be so laid. More fun and have a nice heritage. That's just the Z guy in me though. At the end of the day, let him have it and let it out of his system. When he gets married and have kids, it'll be a while before he drives a car with just two seats again. BTW, who the heck are the three who clicked BRZ? Shame on you. |

I made it 4 just to mess with wonka but at the end of the day this poll is useless to sway your brother's decision if he's already leaning toward a Z.
|
That's why I like you David. You make it fun.

|
Lol thanks Raf...stirs things up a bit around to keep it interesting;)

I think an S2000 would be a better option to consider against a 370Z than the frs twins.
It's a 2 seaters like the Z, a lot of fun to drive, tons of aftermarket parts available, and you can get an S2000 now a days for much less than a used frs. |
I say the Z. Encourage basic mods cuz you have to mod the hell out an FRS to make it as fast as a Z.

Milage doesn't scare me on a vehicle;if it's been properly maintained.....& working at the Nissan dealership-he could probably ensure that a full service is performed on the ~Z~
Also, being a 7/AT,,,it will already have rapid acceleration & being a sport;probably also has an LSD... An easy performance mod (not the cheapest) would be a gear swap, potential locker swap & bushing replacement.....if it has the 3.357 gear like mine-it can pull to 175mph in 5th (1:1) so gear him down & increase his Grin....4.08's would keep him under 150(140-145)/as long as he stay's out of the OD gears. |

You can go Boosted & give him all of your bolt on's....problem solved. |
in his case, probably do a brz probably. it might be slow but he can get a newer one with lower milage and plenty of parts to mod.
have to make compromises somewhere and slow may keep him alive. |
honestly though, id look at other cars besides just RWD coupes u listed. there are faster cars out dere and all it does is frustrate the driver when say a S3 or even a GTI blows past their faster-looking rides.

Due to mileage on the Z and cost of modding, first car BRZ. Wish i could have had a BRZ at that age, i was pushin a CRX!

wat kind of mpg does BRZ get in real world? might be a fun car to dd and just to cruise around in if it sips gas. I hate making the stops at da pump. maybe for a young person dey don't care but in my busy life stopping to get gas is such hassle!!
|
Why don't you get a FRS / BRZ and sell him your Z?
