Sell my Z for Alfa Romeo 4C?

Man I love the 4c more videos and pictures I see of this car the more I want it. Being that it is not marked up anymore and its within range of 55k budget this is a no brainer budget exotic. Nissan is being to slow with the info on the z35 if there will be, and the bad news of mazda rx9 being axed has brought the alfa 4c into the picture. Don't get me wrong I love my Z but this 4c is pure sex on wheels back to basic sports car like the mazda FD3s was. I hate that they don't make a manual but I think I can live with that being how awesome this car is.

UNKNOWN_370 01-02-2017 05:17 PM

If you don't need a trunk AT ALL?

DO IT!!!!!

ChaseZ 01-02-2017 05:33 PM

Personally I don't wish to carry a murse, but personal preference prevails so whatever you're comfortable with it what you should do.

Howrver, for the record, Alfa Romeo is not any more of an exotic than fiat is.

Just be warned the 4C's are expensive and slow to repair due to the carbon fiber tub.

UNKNOWN_370 01-02-2017 08:30 PM

Ferrari is designing & tuning those engines in Alfa. They're not electronically controlled cars. They are designed for REAL drivers.

Sticking with some basic facts.

No power hydraulic rack and pinion Heavenly steering.

2400lbs

Ferrari sourced DCT.

MID ENGINE platform.

No computer controls. 186mph top speed with manual.

Exotic car ride height and COG.

Just make sure you have a small stash of cash in case you have to make an extensive repair.

It may not he exotic. But not even a Porsche Cayman could come close to that driving experience.

Zbrah 01-02-2017 08:47 PM

If it's your second or third car I say do it! But like others have mentioned make sure you have enough cash on the side line for repairs and maintenance. Not sure how good the warranty on these things are, maybe considering a lease option and dump it before warranty runs out?

Great video thanks..love the over take on the last lap over the mustang.

UNKNOWN_370 01-02-2017 10:55 PM

What the Alfa and the Z have in common is.... So called "enthusiasts" usually don't get it when they're out and being sold. When they're gone, people realize what's missing in current cars and realized those cars they mocked in the past were actually the driving experience they were looking for. Look at old mustang vs Z threads on here and you'll see what I mean. There was a time this was more of a mustang forum than a Z forum. Advertising and the need to feel more Americana made people shun the Z with the quickness and run to a mustang. While the mustang was a faster car. It can't hold a candle to the Z driving experience. Now at the end of the cycle. Reviewers are finally saying it is a good car, just dated. But 4 or 5 years ago. They were all hating the Z until Carlos Lago decided to NOT join the auto-propagandist status quo media and give his REAL OPINION. Because he's so respected. The Joneses followed by being more positive and altering the 4 years of trash talk that followed an isolated incident during a corporate(car) & driver test. They blamed the accident on Z brakes. I believe they fvcked up and blamed the car. Because of that article and mind control style writing. The Z became hated. So don't let the hype sway your soul.

Carlos Lagos review.

I was (am?) seriously considering the 4c in lieu of the next Z. If you are getting a gently used one, may ask the ball park on cost?

I'm also guessing they are tough to find, but maybe not? I'm still very, very interested in getting one... tell us more.

I highly doubt I will find a used one but I will test drive before final decision.

I have actually been eyeballing these myself lately. I am really hoping Nissan doesn't screw up the next Z and create something very comparable to the 4C, minus the mid engine thing of course. I would take one over a boxter any day.

Zoren 370 01-03-2017 06:35 AM

Been watch reviews of this car even Hammond of top gear rate this car as a fun sports car to drive.

Im sure you'll enjoy the rawness of this car. Yes I wish they have it in manual and with synchro rev match.

There is an Alfa dealer in Henderson, NV...I might have to check one out!

Impressive !

triso07 01-03-2017 08:31 AM

You'll regret it.

For 55k you could get a Cayman S or a Z51 Vette.

Hmmm..these is a toss up, very nice choices you layed on the table there.

UNKNOWN_370 01-03-2017 09:34 AM

I've been eyeballing the Lotus Evora 400. It has some room in the back for storage. But there's this video on you tube where the Evora is drag racing everything and losing. Even regular azz GTi's are eating em up. It should run with Porsche. But the Porsche destroyed it. It looked pretty pathetic. What's next? It loses to the elantra sport?

Lotus has lost its grip with the sports car segment when they hired and fired CEO Dany Bahar as he promised to realase new line ups of evoras and Elise's, the company invested millions on this project that only ended up in a tissue paper as drawings. I believe so..

Cyber370 01-03-2017 10:05 AM

The 4C is nice but the only potential problem with it is it's a Fiat/Alfa. If recent poor reliability results of Fiats are any indication, the 4C may be more than you bargained for as far as reliability is concerned. But, I have read that the 4C is a true Italian built Alfa Romeo and therefore not prone to the Fiat reliability issues. I hope that is the case. The car is stunning.

From having Italian bikes like Ducati and Aprilia, long as it's made Tuesday to Thursday it's fine. Monday and Friday a toss up. Brilliant design and execution with a soul but little things can add up and Italian parts supply chain can be ifffy. I would not rely on a 4C as a DD. For that get the Caymen.

I had a hard time watching this. The drivers hand placement on the steering wheel just got to me. I only watched for about 45sec. Reminded me of the BMW M3 kid who drove his car off the road in the desert. Brutal.

DLSTR 01-03-2017 12:04 PM

Tested for 1.5 hours the 4C near my place in Germany. Get it and dont listen to those who says its not exotic. One look at the tub and you know it is. Mid engine, all aluminum decent HP and non power steering. Fantastic sound and oh fk yeah an exotic shape. A vette wishes it was that exotic. Please get it, drive it and enjoy it. Those who bad mouth it and not have driven it should basically say ZERO.

No thank you on the vette, don't want a GM. Caymen s on the other hand I have always loved and considered also. But I want something rare and exotic looking and that 4c is sex on wheels.

Great find DLSTR..that carbon tube is amazing. I would hate to get into an accident with this car..must be crazy expensive to get parts.

This is a great sports car also, even before I got the 350z hr I was eyeing the elise which is still in my top 3 cars I would choose.

The 4C and GIULIA are Ferrari influenced. Fiat is Chrysler influenced. They're not being built from the same parts bins. They just have the same corporate management conglomerate.
