Couldn't wait any longer - bought a Stingray

I got tired of waiting for Nissan to get off their butts and make us a new Z, so yesterday I went and bought a 7-speed manual 2017 Corvette Grand Sport in 2LT trim, with nav, PDR, upgraded wheels, etc. It's freaking amazing, and even over my bolt on 370Z the extra 100 HP and 190 tq difference is readily apparent.

Here she is:

RIP my beautiful 2013 370Z - you'll be missed.

This one stickered around 78K but Chevy has a sale this month do I got it around 68K.

Duc_Z09 12-18-2016 10:27 AM

Nice ride. GM did a great job with the C7, especially the Z06. The only thing I don't understand is what makes it a Stingray.

Trips 12-18-2016 10:39 AM

Wow! Sweet Corvette!!

Congrats and enjoy the ride.:driving:

DCNISMO 12-18-2016 10:53 AM

The dealers have huge discounts on the C7 now, plus used ones are in the 40k range. Had I not bought my 2009 911 4S last month I would be looking C7 too.

Hotrodz 12-18-2016 12:18 PM

Love it and congrats!

POS VETT 12-19-2016 05:55 AM

Uh, it's a Grand Sport.

Zoren 370 12-19-2016 06:02 AM

Well as they say in the Z06 world the GS is the fake Z06!

What the hell who cares!!! Im drooling with envy!!

Clifford help me!!!

JC-Nismo 12-19-2016 07:37 AM

The GS actually out handles the Z06 because the power is manageable @ 460HP, but the Z06 is an untamed beast pushing 640HP so all that fake this and that crap can blow a gasket somewhere else, the GS is a great car as all Corvettes are IMO.

lol I remember reading that Singapore has ridiculous vehicle taxes. Isn't a 370Z like $250K?

Nice ride, OP :yum: :driving:

UNKNOWN_370 12-19-2016 02:49 PM

BIG CONGRATS TO OP AND CIGAR CLIFFORD.

Happy for you guys. I'm getting tired too. I'm sure if I don't here something definite from Nissan by Spring? I'm going to jump ship in 2017. Keeping my Z34 for sure though.

:iagree::iagree:

By all means Im glad the GS is out there as an option, I would not even consider the GS as inferior in anyway. Who cares if some people at corvette forum calls it as such. But I do think they dont mean it in a negative way. Some people have different perspective how they see things. I do. I see the positive in negatives.

What the heck...Im even proud to say I drive a fake Nismo. Lol
Yes sir I really do.

Op congratulations!!!...your living my dream.

Just waiting for the stars and moon to line up in the right direction I would go the same route.
But I would still keep my fake nismo and get a fake Z06(GS)

Then i would have 2 fake sports cars! Lol

JTM88 12-19-2016 07:08 PM

Congrats bro, that's an awesome new ride.

UNKNOWN_370 12-20-2016 06:44 AM

OK.... Huffines Chevrolet has the Z06 at a WHOPPING $20,000 DISCOUNT!!!

Think I'll be making a test drive appointment?!

Ghostvette 12-20-2016 11:12 AM

Love the color and if it wasn't for the fact that Corvettes are a 'dime a dozen' around KC, I'd get one.

If Nissan doesn't do a new Z, then I'll keep the one I have and get a Cayman S. Might as well have 2 impractical cars for driving in snow.... :bowrofl:

Check this out:

Car and Driver lightning lap Grand Sport, 911 GT3 and McLaren 570-all run 2.47's - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion

From that thread and the image on it that showed all the top car's standings in the Lightning Lap:

Quote:

Man you look the list of cars that the GS has beat and is pretty incredible. Better times than the Audi R8, Nissan GTR, 911 Turbo, BMW M4 GTS, Mercedes Benz AMG GT, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, Mclaren 570S and it also beat the New Acura NSX easily by 3 seconds. I am pretty sure that even the new MB AMG GT-R is going to have a hard time going below 2:47
It's not a "fake" anything (and I know you weren't agreeing with people who try to denigrate it as such). it's all the good stuff from the Z06 except the overheating LT4/supercharger.

That car looks very FRESH! Can you get the clear tails on the grand sport? Do you feel at least some feedback since the car is so low? I'm going for a test drive this evening.

I think there are third-party places to get the clear lenses - I don't think a GS can be ordered with them (just Z06).

The feedback/handling are awesome. This car is like a 370Z turned up to 11. More power, more grip, more features.

- Three-setting heated seats

- Three-setting cooled/ventilated seats

- Seat memory (2) plus you can press a button for exiting the car which moves things out of the way (I don't use it but I imagine for some larger folks it's a bonus)

- Actual driving modes that alter everything about the car; throttle response, steering effort, gauge displays, traction characteristics, exhaust sound, suspension settings

- Magnetic shocks that adjust hundreds or thousands of times/per second based on road conditions and on selected driving mode

- Removeable roof

diego@vossen 12-23-2016 11:15 AM

Congrats. C7's are great!
